So nurkic is about as advertised. Still waiting for the three point shot to kick in, but at least we know it’s (kind of) there. Defensively, he’s kind of a turnstile and won’t help much other than being tall enough to grab boards and limit extra possessions, or some offensive boards to extend our own possessions. So next season:
Williams ($6.2m), Nurkic ($19m), Moussa ($2m MLE). About 26 million collectively for a three center rotation. Mark will have one more year until he’s a full RFA in summer 2026. Nurk is on his final year, Moussa’s deal fits in the MLE.
Nurkic sets very good screens and directs the offense pretty well. If/when that 3 gets back to his average we can play him and Moussa together. Can’t really do that with Mark.
Due to his salary he’s probably not destined to be be here through next year but I love having those skillsets.
Yeah I’d also guess that Nurkic gets moved. I do wonder if it would be best to wait until next year’s trade deadline to trade him. Give nurkic time to rebuild is basketball resumè on the court to rehab his image of being benched by the suns.
Selfishly, I just want to see what the offense looks like with a big man who can hit a three and is a more able and willing passer.
True. I assume Seth was brought back to provide good veteran leadership and quality depth. I guess if they were competing for a play off/in spot, he would get more playing time. Been very pleased with his play when he gets the time on the floor. Would like to see him back again next year.
Hornets acquire: G/F Dillon Brooks, G Reed Sheppard, C Alperen Segun 2027 first round selection (BKN), and 2029 first round selection (DAL and/or PHX swap rights)
First of all, look at my name.
Second, there is no way I would do this trade if I were the Rockets. Alpi + 2 1st round for Lamelo is a big no, and you are giving two more players for that.
Remove Alpi from that; maybe the Rockets will bite.
This is delulu.
