Same. I think this is a great draft class to be able to hit the roster reset button with. Nothing makes sense in the current landscape, but in a different world I’d love to be able to move Melo to draft Harper at pick two. Use our draft capital to take two more picks in the first round. Have a young team full of coach Lee style players: heart, hustle, defense.
I don’t think we need to move Lamelo to move up to 2

If I’m moving Melo it’s for no less than 3 1st’s, or a good starter and 2 1st’s
I can’t think of anything else that would get it done. Pick 2 is very valuable (aka the rights to draft Harper), and the Spurs would want a player and picks. I don’t think picks alone would get it done. And we’re also not trading Brandon Miller.
I think the chances of the Spurs acquiring Giannis are around 5-10%. Probably not even that. It would require the Spurs to send Barnes/Vassel/Keldon Johnson to make the salary cap work for acquiring the 60 million Giannis deal. The Bucks would very much like to add Harper given that Dame is out and they’re looking to reboot.
But the real kicker that will stop the deal is that Milwaukee will insist on Stephon Castle being a part of the deal. And the Spurs won’t budge on that. Would be something like Barnes, Castle, Vassell + 2025 pick 2, pick 14, and a couple more firsts. And a third or fourth team will probably need to get involved as well.
For me.. it’s been so hard to get a player of Lamelo skill and upside. I think it’s too early to let him go.

What are we doing here? HP should be our one stop source for all things Hornets. I can understand missing out on the FO news story but a player winning a post season award? Seriously this stuff is important and should be a top priority.

I’ll try run it by Media Ops and see if Dumond needs to talk with his people about staying on top of all the socials. I haven’t gotten any calls from Senior Leadership that we aren’t hitting our metrics but you know how busy they are with cross-promotional work this time of year. I can also put in a ticket with Media Relations and see where that goes but with layoffs in that department, it feels really shitty to get into that for content before June.
You all know that you can complain to management as well. In some ways it might come in with more importance coming from you than me.
@QC_Thundercats - can you open the ticket with Media Relations? I am afraid they will be pissed with me and you have a much better “can you please” style than I do. Also, if you think that maybe it’s an Engineering Department issue with the live feeds, maybe reach out to Roberta and see if she can pull logs.

I think you talked with Robert in Marketing, I’d always talk to Roberta in Media Relations on this stuff. Marketing is not ready to roll that out, it’s just in Pilot right now. I personally think it’s more POC than Pilot but trifles. Irrespective, I did reach out to Roberta and she asked me to open a ticket. Will see if anything comes of it.

Well then where the fuck are my HP membership dues going? I’m paying on the “super ultra mega-diamond premium” tier level. The only thing I’ve received as a thank you is an old Alexis Ajinça jersey. And a coupon for a personal pan pizza (ONLY ONE TOPING!!!) from Pizza Hut.
I will be reporting this to my local congressman. And will also consider dialing back my HP membership to the “regular diamond premium” level. But I think the mods may stop liking my posts. That would be crushing to me.

How would anyone on the outside looking in ever be able to tell the difference
Just for fun and posts, is there any two or three team trade involving the clippers that gets melo to the clippers and gets the hornets back at least two firsts and a decent player on salary back or 3-4 firsts and matching expiring salary?
I say that because most on here would expect a 7 pick haul like Paul George, etc while the thought across the league is that melo isn’t worth very much as he doesn’t contribute to actual winning basketball and can’t stay on the court.

Unfortunately the clippers don’t have first round picks until sometime in the 2050’s. I’m kidding, but really though, I think it’s 2029/2031 or something. So that doesn’t necessarily light the rebuilding spark. Unless it’s a very very delayed spark.
But the returning player on a matching salary with an expiring deal is there. James Harden is owed 35m I believe. One more year. Can’t remember if it’s just one last year left or if it’s a player option.
