Im looking forward to seeing some five out lineups with size and shooting.
Melo
Miller
Salaun
Bridges
G Williams
That’s a ridiculously fun lineup. I very much want to see this on the floor.

It would be so nice if Grant Williams was a bit taller.
I just don’t love him as the big man in that lineup. I guess he wouldn’t guard the other teams center with that lineup?
This would be a change of pace lineup that comes in to absolutely run it for five minutes. Not log major minutes. Just a different look to spread teams out, shoot from everywhere, and run the floor.
Obviously, outside of centers like Gobert or Embiid, I actually have less of an issue with grant Williams defending centers. Draymond Green is listed as 6’6 230 and grant Williams is 6’6 236.
I don’t think grant would defend centers well, but I could see him pushing around a lighter guy like porzingis or Chet (OKC) or doing fine with other teams’ smaller stretch lineups. (Example: if Dallas wanted to run maxi kleber or pj washington at center)
I hate him as a big in that lineup. We would get destroyed defensively. Grant is not Draymond on defense and we can’t pretend he is.
And he would have to guard the center in that lineup because who else would?
I think of this lineup similarly to if you pull the goalie in Hockey. Yes offensively the spacing would be a dream but it could only happen in short spurts
Great news!
I don’t think it’s such great for news for NSJ’s development but what would help Nick would be replacing Micic w/ a SF or C who’s expected to play more than Taj. Looks like we are not bringing James N over.
I will say it - Gordon Hayward is still on the free agent wire. You could trade Micic for cash and a 2nd rounders to pay down our dead cap space to bring Gordon back.
You know we brought back Coach Cliff, Reggie Jackson (technically) and Bismack? (or was that just strong advocacy to bring him back on this board - I can’t remember).
Really happy to see Seth back! Much like Taj, he’s a break glass, experienced vet who can help with culture. I’m not too worried about NSJ, because he looks to be a year away from having the awareness, especially defensively, to be in the main rotation next season. I’d much rather he gets starter minutes with the Swarm, and develop within our systems there, while Seth watches from the bench.
We are still lacking a positionally sized SF, to back-up Miller. Once again, we’re loaded with small Guards, so maybe a trade to balance things out a bit is being worked on?
That’s fine, and I’m not disagreeing. But I’m not talking starting lineup. Just a chance of pace small lineup that will run it for a few minutes. Especially against teams that go small.
As mentioned above, if Dallas for instance goes small with PJ or Kleber at center.
No, I don’t think that grant is draymond defensively. I’m just throwing out draymond to reference because they are the exact same size.
Ok for a small ball counter lineup I will admit its solid
Yeah the guard situation is off. I am all in on trading Micic because that gives more development time to Tre and Nick. Plus there is that big hole behind Miller. I am sure that the FO and coaches see this too. I am thinking w Green - Isaac Okoro is out of the picture. I had not thought about Seth as a leader - bonus!
There’s three options: the 6’5 Green and the 6’6 Martin will back up at SF. Not necessarily their position of strength, but it works. Or
Tidjane Salaun will spell the two above and also play some backup SF minites.
Well, there’s Bridges playing some SF which I’m really not crazy about.
I’m not crazy about either of those individually, but collectively it seems okay-ish.
I think Cody actually fits the traditional small forward role rather nicely. If he’s healthy I see him getting the lion’s share of the minutes there behind Miller.
Yeah I’m mostly okay with that. As long as we get the good Cody Martin who doesn’t have a bum knee.
Clearly you (and mostly likely most posters) have realized this but to me this is like bringing fire down from the mountain to a caveman.
The roster makes A LOT more sense if Tidjane is going to get BOTH PF and SF back up minutes. Duhhhh….
Okay so he might get twice as much playing time than what I imagined. That also increases our probability of losing but alternatively increases our chances of keeping our lottery pick. I am finally tracking.
There are still too many guards. If Nick can handle SOME PG minutes then there maybe flexible in flipping both Reggie and Micic. But it looks like that is not going to happen.
That seems to be shaping up to be the situation. It’s still early.
This summer, the Hornets prioritized improving their roster as well as building draft equity. Charlotte re-signed Miles Bridges to a three-year, $75 million contract, added Reggie Jackson and Josh Green in trades, and drafted Tidjane Saluan and KJ Simpson last month. The health of guard LaMelo Ball and another year of development will determine if Charlotte improves on its 21 wins from last season. Ball played only 21 games last season, and Brandon Miller was named to the All-Rookie first team. – Marks
Man…. I was really hoping to see him on the team at some point. I was pretty stoked to land him. Now it really seems he may never play a minute for us.
Or he doesn’t want to play in charlotte so bad that he and the team faked the injury haha.
