Anything up until tomorrow was marketing

So what advantage does it give us to buy Hayward out, instead of just letting him expire? Why would we hep other teams get him for next to nothing, while we pay him? I guess I’m not sure how a buyout works.

Woj on sports center saying Miles likely to remain with the Hornets past the deadline and that the organization would like to resign him this summer.

That would be a bitter pill to swallow for me.

I’m ok if we don’t trade Miles at the deadline, but only if we do a sign and trade next season. I absolutely do not want him on this roster. How you can build a strong team culture with Miles as one of your key starting pieces? Answer, you can’t.

That said, as we all know, Miles could simply walk for nothing at the end of the season. So I’d be happy with 75c back for him now. Nassir Little is a decent player on a good contract, so him some seconds isn’t that bad of a return, IMHO.

Is viewed favorably by other would be free agents and players’ agents to do so, if there’s no loss to us but afford the player an opportunity to play otherwise. And there would not be a loss to us in this case. We’re not playing for anything.

My concern on a sign and trade is our track record on execution. It’s the right thing to do financially and basketball wise as the best way to get 1:1 return value. I just have zero faith we will execute that correctly and not be left holding the stinky bag of miles and a hot air balloon-sized contract.

Keep hope alive. If the story out there is true MK is gone after this deadline.

I’m hesitant to say this and in no way will it be true until after today but I’ve grudgingly respected the rumors that we want a young player and a FRP for our guys. QC has forever embedded the idea of MK just bending over for other GMs.

Which in the end will probably happen for real

I just don’t see how a combo of nic Richards + miles to the sixers for bamba + a filler contract + 2024 1st, 2028 (and pick swap right with lac) doesn’t interest all parties.

6ers have to do something to hold the fort until embiid can maybe get back. Miles gets to play a major role for 2 months on a major national team who could make moves to resign him.

Anybody with even 1 basketball eye can see the sixers have a real chance of sliding completely out of the top 8 if they don’t do something without having embiid

If we were to hire Bob Myers on Sunday, I’d feel we’re in great shape to execute on most of our objectives. If however we bring in a current high flier junior GM, I’d expect there will be a curve. And it would be a tough start to try manage the bridges thing as task number one.

And no, i don’t see Bob Myers walking through that door. Best bet would be Travis Schlenk if its certified pre-owned. The rumor about Danny Ferry just makes sense because we love bad PR so much lately lol

I think it’s been enough time that him having a job isn’t off the table. I mean what he said was certainly rough around the edges and very unprofessional (the store line) was clearly joking shop talk that he just got caught in a recording.

But if ferry (who was really good) gets me budz (who is really really good), I’m very much ok with it.

It’s weird we live in a world where you can choke and punch your girlfriend and be forgiven within 12 months but if you make a racially insensitive and not very thoughtful comment and/or fight dogs you can never be forgiven

Well said.

This is a highly odd take in contrast to my statement that to hire Ferry aligns with our love of bad PR lately while at the same time, I have not come remotely close to forgiving a guy that choked and beat his SO in front of their kids. I’d bet conversely, I am the leader in the club house for wanting him gone at any cost, even accepting a sandwich in trade compensation and absolutely happy to lose him w/ no comp at all.

Totally not aimed at you. That statement was aimed as a societal point. I couldn’t argue that hiring ferry would definitely come with a pr problem

Which is my point. It’s the preface for any introduction to a Hornets GM story if he’s the guy. I honestly don’t recall how well he did/did not do in his stint. I assume there were good times but there were also the Larry Drew shambles that I think coincided w/ his tenure (maybe not). Either way, if we care about PR, we likely won’t go this route considering all that we have had going since pre-draft 2022.
