2024 Trade deadline thread

They asking 5 first for him . I think that is real high

I think the second the ink is dry on miles at $25m+ for 4-5 years, it is a negative asset.

I think his highest return is now. If it isn’t a first, then it isn’t. I know I have seen enough of him to know, I wouldn’t give up anything more than a late 1st for him or a moderate asset.

As an owner or GM, I would quietly be very against doing any major business with clutch sports. I am not of fan.

Knowing that is what made me feel like the Hawks asking for two 1st rounders for Dejounte Murray is actually pretty reasonable. Given that Murray is on a good deal for three more years.

Bingo! Whether I take into account what a piece of shit he is as a human being, or not, his on court production simply isn’t worth what it’ll take to keep him.

Oh the irony it would be of going from a Batum overpay, to a Hayward overpay, right into a Miles overpay. Please Hornets, learn your lessons!

As it relates to Miles, it seems that of all the likely outcomes, there are two ideal scenarios and two that are less than ideal.

Ideally, we would either:
a) trade him for value (a 1st + talented player) or
b) re-sign him to a reasonable extension (4/$80m)

On the less ideal side we would
a) trade him for peanuts (2nds + another team’s scrub) or
b) overpay on a multiyear $100m+ deal

Sadly, I feel like one of the less ideal options is most likely to play out and I suppose the question is, which of the two less than ideal scenarios is least damaging. In my view, if we’re trying to build a team that can compete, we absolutely can’t let a player with value go without getting comparable value back. So as much as I wouldn’t want to pay him $25m per, I’d rather do that than give him away, or let him walk away as a FA. Even if he’s slightly overpaid, he’s still a talented player and an asset that we could flip in a trade down the road. Sometimes the lesser of two evils is the best play and this may be one of those times.

We’ve been interested in Hyland before. I like him as a 6th man that can play point as a starter when Melo is inevitably injured.

My point exactly . we need a decent return . I prefer he’s traded but I want fair value back.

Would absolutely deal two seconds for Hyalnd

As long as that includes this years celtics 2nd I am down

Unless that SG is in this draft(?)

That would be nice! I think there are a couple of guys that might fit the bill in our range.

My preference would be a vet, as is the case at PF, to sprinkle some knowledge, savy, and defensive intensity between LaMelo & Williams. Miller just needs more guys who share his will to win and willingness to actually get back and defend.

Lots of noise about a PJ for Green swap.

Not that I know a lot about the guy but from what ive read and his potential fit this seems like the next best thing after a FRP.

Kris Dunn would be a good get for this team. His defense is top notch. He is tough.

If these are the returns for PJ, who at least Vecenie has as the only trade candidate of ours that can net a 1st RP back, please lord don’t trade him just to look busy.

Mitch ain’t ever worried about looking busy at the deadline

He has only slightly more offense than Ntilikina though

I’m less worried about that if he is a super solid defender that can cover for melo and run back up.

Frank is terrible at everything.

Gabe Vincent + cam reddish + 2029 laker 1st unprotected for miles and ish

You know miles would approve it. Gets a first for him and Gabe is rotational

That sounds fair for both teams . I wouldn’t mind that . The first makes the value close.
