2024 Trade deadline thread

What’s your definition of desperate?

Oh, Olynk, not Kelly Oubre?

yes olynk. he is a very good backup center with exactly the kind of game this team needs. he plays a multi dimensional offense and tough hard nosed defense. and more than anything rarely dresses in street clothes.

If he’d put effort, mainly mental effort, into his D then maybe. He’s a powerful athlete who can pressure the rim and shoot, but he’s not good enough at either to be as bad as he is on D. If we were to sign him to the sort of contract it’ll take to get him back to the Hornets, we’ve financially locked ourselves into a core of LaMelo, Miller & Miles, without enough room to bring in the starting level SG, which is needed to cover up for LaMelo’s lack of ability/want on D.

excellent post.

pj, miles and nic combined last night for some of the laziest, most flat footed and bone headed defense that i have seen in a while at the point of attack. it was horrendous.

He has actually struggled this season.

I agree on Olynyk.

How about maxi kleber? 6’10 240 pounds. PF and small ball center. Not quite the shooter that Olynyk is.

But two years left at 11m per year.

Yeah he’s plateaued some this year, but if would be possible to buy low on a guy like Murphy, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

New Orleans would never do that, but it would be great.

Personally, if we’re moving PJ out, I’d try get in on the Houston deal and get Steven Adams. He won’t play this year but we could trade Nick July 1 for a future first potentially and have the grown up in the locker room we really need on a reasonable contract.

Note is very more than injured Steven Adam’s for PJ, just saying that would be my move to keep our instill some maturity in the locker room

Love Adams. But I think KO’s offense is so sorely needed.

I think maturity is harder to find. I don’t think that’s Olynk. He’s maybe a leader in the way Ish is, but not in a way that clears out a locker room. And he’s generally very well liked, not sure Kelly has that going for him either. I’ll look for offense with Nick’s contact in July.

I honestly wouldn’t hate bringing them both in. 3 center rotation of mark/Adams/ Kelly o

Pf rotation that includes olynk particularly in big lineups. Last night would have been one of those times

Nah, I’d be happy with 3 centers inclusive of the guy in Spain we drafted.

Cody Zeller might be the veteran presence we need!

Its not many players out thair and it seams most teams are trying to get Bridges for pennies on the dollar. Bridges on the floor is a big plus . Off not so much. But resigning Bridges with Melo and Miller is a good big three. Add in some veteran’s with cap space to balance the roster this is a playoff team. So I guess I am saying we keep Bridges and go from thair. And we would still have money to put players around them. Debth and health is our biggest problems and that could be fixed this year.

Is he though? He’s a minus in defense. He’s a minus on brains on the court. He’s good at highlight plays, and cuts to the rim. He’s kind of empty calories imo. And he’s a complete POS for the off court stuff.

Yeah, I cannot state enough how poor of a defender Miles is. Watching him try to play team defense particularly hurts, it elicits a visceral reaction from me. I watch it, and I wish I could understand what’s happening in his brain. Probably not a ton, but there’s gotta be something happening.

Mikal Bridges would be the perfect fit for this team! Package whatever picks we end up getting for him!

Kevin Huerter? Kings are looking for more defense… Maybe Cody Martin, Bouknight and Ish for Huerter and a 2nd Round pick?

They asking 5 first for him . I think that is real high
