Favorite choices to replace Steve Clifford

We might as well just hire Borrego back LOL can you even imagine

Really?

Wow. I mean, cool podcast, but…

Chris Quinn or David Adelman get it done!

Just like my absolute rejection of dawn Staley, I prefer the next coach to have NBA coaching experience at some level.

It just seems like a waste of time

Yeah I’m okay on JJ maybe as an assistant

I sincerely hope this is just due diligence

Yeah lead assistant would be cool. JJ has always been a very high IQ player

Reeks of a lead assistant interview. Certainly like the idea of bringing him on board, but no way in hell as the HC.

He wouldn’t be the first player to get a head coaching gig with no coaching experience. Both good and bad examples of that too. Feels to me like a swing for the fences move. It would end up either being amazing or a complete disaster.

I can see some positives to JJ being the HC as well. He would have the cachet to coach someone like Melo for example. He also strikes me as a good motivator.

Really?

He’s bringing Lebron and a 5 out offense that he’s going to call the ā€œChef’s Specialā€ offense.

Are you saying draft bronny #1 overall to get the old man for 2 seasons?

If they did, would that be the end of all your streaming services?

It would be tough. Especially since LeBron would instantly organize and effectively get the most out of the team. He would also force melo to decide if he is a professional basketball player or not. And if melo decides he is, watch out.

And at the same time I couldn’t stand the circus nor the LeBron self righteous hypocrisy show.

But at least it would be interesting and most likely a top 3 or 4 seed for a year or two.

You could get Bronny in the 2nd rd. As for Lebron he would be great for Lamelo and show him how its done in the NBA

No for Lebron’s ego it would have to be a top 5 pick

Here’s an interesting line of thinking on jj

Clifford is in the front office presumably helping to hire and mentor/advise the new coach especially since not one of the known candidates is an established head coach

Clifford is from the Van Gundy tree.

Jj spent 6 years in Orlando under a van Gundy
Jj finished in new Orleans under van gundy
Jj’s other long term coach was doc rivers who is loosely tied with the van Gundy tree and Clifford through pat Riley

Hiring a noob coach positions Clifford to heavily advise which justifies the position as more than just a nice gesture.

The more I think about it the more it makes sense. Not saying it is necessarily a good idea but it isn’t random at all.

I’m all for hiring a young HC. That’s probably our best option now instead of the usual retreads. Let a young coach grow and learn with this roster. But, I would prefer the new HC to have some experience. Preferably as a assistant in the NBA. Just not sure about a first time coach as HC.

Your rational makes sense. Hiring someone who has never coached, as your head coach, however, does not. But, with a couple of experienced coaches, one on O & one on D, and Cliff mentoring … it would be interesting/intriguing/frightening. The only thing I’d add would be, I’d have confidence in JJ making the right in-game adjustments, just not the actual coaching part of the job.
