Favorite choices to replace Steve Clifford

I wonder if Stef would be interested in playing with Lebron.

Lamelo, Stef, Miller, Lebron & Williams.
Not a lot of de but it could score buckets.
I can dream

We started with the premise of a wide net, which is fine and makes sense, even though theres a championship winning coach available who is known by the front office and ownership.

Having said wide net expanded now twice with newer candidates each time makes you wonder…was the initial batch not good enough? Or are they resistant to the Hornets?

Maybe Jordi was our #1 and he decided on the Nets. I thought Lee was in strong contention, but the silence is quite loud. He’s been a known name, but never really the top target of anybody going on a few seasons, is he a bad interview or something? Why did Milwaukee choose Griffin over Lee for the head coach job? Especially seeing how bad it must’ve been for them to can him after less than a year.

Or is Boston holding tight, if Mazzulla chokes against the Heat again, would the Celtics want to keep Lee to give him the job next? Just seems 4-5 weeks, no indication of strong interest, no whispers of a 2nd interview or final round. Mike Brown was hired by the Kings during the Warriors playoff run, so I don’t think it’s a playoff thing.

Should Chris Quinn be a stronger consideration as well. Riley and Spo might have that special magic only few names in history have, so we can’t assume Quinn also has it. But damn does the Heat always turn on every single post season. I hate ā€œtHe KuLtUrEā€ as much as anybody, but I would kill for the success and identity that they’ve established down there. He’s been there for 10 years, maybe the new Sith Lord is ready to strike out on his own.

JJ definitely has the basketball mind, especially the modern game. He appears to have a good player connection and good temperament of a coach, not too buddy buddy, but not a driving asshole, as far as I know. I just hate the idea of on the job training for how to manage a game, how to manage player personalities. He’s going to make mistakes. How does he manage frustration and friction in a locker room? How does he handle pressure at the end of games? How does he motivate the group if they go through lulls?

Bud probably wants a Monty Williams contract, which probably creates some hesitation. Stotts is known as an offensive mind

I’ll agree QC, this wide net thing I get, but we’ve had a lot of time to put into this search now. The longer it goes I think it’s less and less likely that it’s any of the names we heard initially. Because those guys would have been the pick by now.

Peterson talked a good game, but maybe some of these young guys don’t want a young team to start with? Maybe that’s why some of these veteran retreads and Redick are being mentioned now. If I was a young coach I’d prefer a more veteran group honestly to help navigate some things.

Everything points to us really being ready to compete in 2027, so maybe these guys don’t want to take some lumps the next two years as a first time coach and kill their overall record and momentum to a long term job too. It’s just a little strange honestly.

Cross Dawn Staley off the list

She always seems so cool (as in neat, not cold) to me.

If we were to get Lebron I would probably have to root for another team for a couple of years.

Thats like signing a deal with the devil.

As far as coach goes, I would like Lee, Quinn or Redick

Speaking of Lakers, we can probably get Darvin Ham in a few days

People that know their calling and stick to it even when ā€œgreener pasturesā€ present themselves is very respectable

Why would we get Lebron?

I think I started it as a joke since he does a podcast with JJ and it has turned into a ā€œwhat ifā€ scenario.

We won’t but he is going to go crying to another franchise this summer I just feel it coming.

Wonder what Money-Mike Dunlap is up to these days. Maybe he’ll return if we strike out at the altar again.

Is it a done deal? Lol

On the broadcast of the Mavs game last night there was an interesting moment where Mike Breen said ā€œmaybe I shouldn’t phrase it like this, but if you were a coachā€ā€¦ and then JJ said oh my God and Doris and Breen laughed like crazy. It was like they knew something we didn’t.

Hopefully it’s just much ado about nothing

If that’s the case, why are we doing this? Have we really struck out on every more qualified candidate?

ā€œIs that where you are going?ā€

JJ: ā€œI don’t know yet.ā€

If this is true, Im speechless. What I read from all of this is that it is a testament to no one wanting to be here. Unfucking real.

I’m sure we’re not a hot destination for a coach, but I also think the team isn’t interested in a mediocre option either. If JJ’s the pick, it’s probably just as much that the team see him as a more dynamic option that what’s available.

Dice roll for sure.
