Man, this thread is one of the more interesting we’ve ever had.
I abhor violence against women and otherwise, but agree with cltbklhscoach and steelmatic in resisting the urge to rush to judgment before hearing all the facts. Must leave room for the possibility that there’s context we don’t have that could shed different light on things. We all remember Duke lacrosse. Sad any way you look at it and definitely muddies things up from a basketball perspective though.
I appreciate QC delineating between hip hop culture and the quality of the music. Count me among those who love the classic rap of the 80s and 90s. Don’t care much for anything of the past 20 years. With all due respect to the current generation, most of it is intolerable to me. That being said, I don’t kid myself into believing that even the classic era wasn’t without its issues. Even much of that I didn’t play around my kids, but at least it sounded good. De La Soul, Tribe, Black Sheep, Kane, Eric B & Rakim, Wu-Tang, Nice & Smooth, Brand Nubian, P.E, EPMD, and I loved hearing Gang Starr during the finals as they went to commercial. So much good stuff, not just in hip hop but other genres as well. I miss those days.

This is even worse than I expected… and I guess it’s been going on for quite a while. He had us all fooled. And to do this in front of his kid…. What a POS. His kid kind of acted like it was normal. So sad.

Wow. Like holy shit. Obviously having been through Rae Carruth and Deidra Lane and Greg Hardy, I’ve seen some shit, but this shakes your core.
Of course there’s anger and disgust, but there’s also this weird mix of feelings of sadness, and regret, and betrayal, and heartbreak. Like I don’t put anybody on a pedestal, no athlete, musician, politician, but over 4 years I though we had an idea of who he was. Very cordial, a good interview, gracious, hard worker, leader, serious about basketball and music (I carried both of those passions equally for as long as I could, so I identified with it). Played with his kids at the games, brought attention to the team and city with his highlights, was going to be a big component of our future plans.
You can’t know a man’s demons, but we can’t even say its out of character if this is who he was or who he became off the court. Laying hands is never right, you can always punch a wall and walk out the house to cool off. You never attack someone, no matter what shit they say, unless you fear for your life. But this wasn’t even a single strike, this was a prolonged attack to break multiple body parts, choking them out, causing severe physical and mental damage.
I had high hopes for this guy, had pride in what he represented for the team. This is an unforgivable act, especially in front of the kids and terrorizing them. There is no cheap discount to sign him, we need to rescind the offer and never welcome him back. Should be banned from the league. Any second chance he deserves should only happen off the court, after getting help and becoming a better person. I don’t see how he avoids jail, even for an athlete.

Im so pissed off, man. What a piece of shit. I never understand any “man” that beats on a woman, but i especially dont understand it in this situation. Like what could be so stressful and upsetting that you would do this as a young, rich, NBA player? I really hope she is ok and i gope both her and the children are able to separate themselves and heal from tbis trauma.
And im also pissed off at this organization, again, for being the one that took this guy on. Sure, hindsight is 20/20, but from the shit hes done this offseason, its clear this is always been who he was, but as the old saying goes “money (or closing in on it) just makes you more of what you really are.” He couldnt hide it anymore. Fucking idiot.
And again, the truama and abuse is the first and foremost concern, but way after that, i just dont understand what our teams have done so wrong to be so cursed. We are going to lose 20 ppg and a dynamic young core for absolutely nothing because he’s a lowlife piece of shit. Pisses me the fuck off. Fuck you, Miles. You fucking coward.

Since it’s likely that he’s beat up multiple women they all need to rush to sue him before his money dries up! I doubt that Miles is sophisticated enough to hire people to hide his money. If so it’s too late now! The gold rush is on.
