Miles Bridges Gets 3 years Probation

Really don’t have the words. I think it’s time to rescind the QO, and cut ties. If he becomes an all-star somewhere else, so be it.

Yea, Miles might be done in Charlotte. Wouldn’t be surprised to see the QO get pulled.

The trade with the Knicks? I mean, I didn’t love it either, but they rolled a first forward to next year. It’s not the worst use of an asset, and with it still being a “future first round pick” they can use it to pivot.

Sorry if asked and answered elsewhere.

Can we pull the QO once we’ve offered?

Would you if the GM?

Yes, teams can pull QOs at any time. And players can sign QOs at any time. Once signed, I would not think so.

Which led me to that assumption in the other thread (re: next steps) and we’ve placed ourselves in; or been placed in some sort of quarantine right now w/ the league until … (not sure what that might be - internal investigation or league security investigation). E.g. I wonder if any FA or trade will go into or out of Charlotte right now. I could be completely wrong.

I’d assume the league office would have called to ensure we don’t sign him to anything while matters are pending, at the very least. Would seem logical, to protect the NBA brand.

I’d be stunned if they even thought to discuss anything further to that. The big hold up for me is that I’m not sure if any FA would sign here until such time as we have rescinded the QO.

My fear is that we’re effectively in limbo, because we won’t rescind until we have enough hard, irrefutable facts on the situation and, therefore, can’t make any moves other than resigning Cody. If we had a mind to move Hayward and/or Terry’s contracts, the options will surely be drying up with every contract that gets signed around the league.

I’m sure the Miles news has scared off potential FA’s who are seeing the hornets in limbo. And it’s just not a good situation to sign with a franchise who is in the midst of a horrible DV issue. It’s so recent, it’s still unclear how the team will handle it and proceed forward. No FA wants to sign with a team who gets bad attention league wide on such an issue as this.

Which is why Mitch and the front office needs to step up and make a clear public statement that distances themselves from Miles. Yeah yeah “innocent until proven guilty”. I get it. But the more news about this DV issue that comes out, the worse it gets.

Hornets. Grow a pair. Take a stand. Move on.

How nice would have been to have drafted two basically lottery picks. Such a stupid move… good job Mitch. The trade is getting worse and worse. Yay.

I wonder if Miles ever gut punched any of those women? It’s an ugly question but it’s an ugly and valid question. That is the reality of this situation.

Why would multiple women lie? It’s a basic question but hard to answer w/o denigrating women in general.

Miles is now toxic to the NBA, Jordan and Hornets brands. That is lost money. Reality is “To hell w loyalty when you are losing my GD money.” Everyone involved has to protect their money. This is a business decision in addition to a justice, fairness and moral decision.

Miles is now bad for business.

Mitch could not have seen this coming. Well how do teams investigate kids? When you are talking million, you should should at least dig into their backgrounds outside of biased coaches and protective family members. It’s pretty wreckless not to go shopping around.

When Flint, Michigan had that lead-in-the-water controversy a few years ago and they talked about associated behavior problems(bullying, aggressiveness), I was like, “It doesn’t seem to have affected Miles Bridges. He’s reported to be a good guy.”

I hope there is still some way this developing story isn’t true.

I have no words. I hope she gets the support she needs and Miles suffers the consequences of his actions, whilst also getting the help he clearly needs.

As a father himself to a young girl it makes it all the more shocking and incomprehensible. If the facts are as have been reported, he has no place in the league, and there should be no route back.

It’s an incredibly delicate situation however, and the Hornets will be looking at all of their options with legal counsel I would imagine. It isn’t necessarily as straight forward as being a case of cut and run so we should give them the time to get their ducks in a row, but I certainly hope they come to the correct decision.

From a franchise/basketball POV it really is the cherry on the cake of a $hit$h0w off-season, but all of that now seems trivial in comparison.

P.p.s I was keen before but now I really wish we’d taken a flyer on AJ Griffin with that pick we wrapped in a bow and handed away circa 1 week ago. Fml.

Also I think it’s worth noting that things like this can be triggers for people who have gone through or may be going through similar.

If that is anyone on this board or someone reading this, don’t forget there is support available - a quick google will give you numbers you can call, places you can go to etc.

Why would his wife lie BEFORE he got paid!!? It was so bad she couldn’t keep from crying out before she could have at least been 50% of his big contract.

She has zero motivation to lie

Is there something about multiple women? I hadn’t seen that anywhere else.

While he should definitely be held fully accountable for his actions, I also don’t want to presume any extra crimes for things he didn’t do, even if he is a trash person.

The team needs to step the fuck up and release a strong statement. Not specifically targeting Miles in a way that already assumes guilt, but in a way that communicates that they do not condone violence and DV-and it will be taken seriously and swiftly addressed. They need to put out a statement that indicates a zero tolerance for this sort of violence against women. But also state that they are still gathering facts and will act accordingly.

I feel strongly about this. If the organization does not handle this very well or is not strong and swift with their message/handling of it over the next few weeks…I don’t know if I can really follow or support this franchise anymore. DV is a zero tolerance for me. I grew up and was raised by a single mom who taught me how to treat people. You don’t disrespect women. You most definitely don’t fucking touch or hurt women. And I’m out if the Hornets don’t take a strong stand on this.

I’m not here to defend Miles but sometimes people who abuse their partner don’t have a history of abuse. Sometimes it’s a one time thing. It doesn’t make it any better, but there may not have been a lot of past behavioral problems.

Miles Bridges is done.

Agree. Welcome aboard!

His wife said in the post that it had been going on for a while, so I don’t think this is the first time.
