Yes there is such a difference between raw = hasn’t developed any real skills and raw = has only been playing basketball for 4 years

Liangelo for me, shot it better today than Kulboka - I’d love to find a spot for him
Lewis looks like he can be a hell of a defender with his agility and length
Carey/Richards I think one can be a 2nd unit big while Kai is in the G-League, Carey I think has the higher ceiling and does look strong with improved work in the post.
Whoever Sneed is needs to go today - I don’t know why he’s getting a lot of minutes
And yeah that Blakeney kid for Portland - in Hornets Law tradition he’s the hot random to deter us from victory. Lol

Really disappointed with Nick most of all. Love what Bouk and Kai bring. They are dynamic. Gelo looks pretty good and Arnie looks a lot larger than last we saw him and the shot looks good. Like Scottie’s build and seems like he can defend.
Reactionary observation
Any Hope Nick or Carey playing center this year gone, Heck Mitch 2022 timeline for them in doubt.
Kai talented with exciting potential, not strong enough inside. Can give some good minutes as positionless perimeter hybrid forward this year.
Slim pickings, but FO and JB look to add a reserve center…tricky as need to move a Carey or Nick.
But can you imagine Kai with strength and conditioning over the next 3-4 years? I mean holy moly that’s bonkers to think about.

I’m super excited what i saw from Kai. He looks like he could be a star. Super raw but the potential is there. I’d rather have him on the roster than Richards or Carey to be honest. Neither of those guys excite me. And Carey just seems small to me.
Carey just 2 boards and Richards not worth keeping.
I all ready want Gelo on the 15 man roster. I think we can cut Richards or Martin. Gelo will be solid and i think would force playing time.
Kai has chance to be special. He just needs to get a little stronger . Right now i wouldn’t be scared for him to back up center.
Bouk is far more athletic than i thought. And looks to end up in time a solid starter
On a tangential to us note, what in the cynical hell is Niel Olshey doing? Faried, Beasley, and Mudiay have played 1200+ NBA games and are logging real minutes, starter minutes in a JV game?
Hell, does Kobi Simmons have more NBA experience than our whole team combined? Did we pay PDX extra so we could see how our JV squad fated against their Varsity program? That just looked nuts.

I still think Carey can be a player and expect him to improve this year. I’m not as down on him as others. Especially offensively. I never saw much in Richards and that hasn’t changed. I haven’t seen much to excite me about Riller and have more confidence in a Martin helping us…. SUPER excited about Kai and Bouk. Kai is the high upside, high risk/reward pick that I’ve been pleading for the Hornets to take a chance on for years. Can’t wait to watch his development and evolution.

I’m with you. Carey has already shown what he can do in the G league offensively, and even in this game he didn’t have much issue scoring. It may take time but there’s no reason he can’t figure out how to play defense.
That was one of the dumbest things that I have seen. Insane stuff. Did they actually put together a team thats trying to win the Summer League? Lol
I don’t really understand what Olshey is doing across the board. Its almost like they are halfway begging for Lillard to request a trade although I liked the Zeller signing.
It gave us good experience though for sure.

This is where I’m not complaining from our standpoint. But man, that’s just cynical showing up with that at SL, and starting them, and playing them major minutes. Like what are their SL guys even gleaning from this?
