2024-25 Hornets General Discussion

I had to check your profile but yep… you’re new around here huh?

Icky, don’t break the new people’s spirits. Not yet.

We love new people: Welcome to the charlotte hornets fans support group here at HP. There are dozens of us out there. Some of us choose to post our collective sadness here. The membership dues are really cheap.

I’ll start. My name is powell and I am a hornets addict. I accept my affliction and I’m always along for the ride, no matter how badly I want off. I just can’t help myself.

I meant no harm for sure. Like our team, we’re broken enough.

Oh I know man haha I’m absolutely just making a funny. You have to laugh to keep from crying, or so they say.

Makes this all the more on brand

This has to be some cruel cosmic joke at this point. Can things find a way to get worse in terms of keeping our guys healthy?

Uhhh shouldn’t have said that…. immediately knocks on wood, does seven Hail Mary, burns sage

I didn’t watch the Memphis game. For some reason I knew it would be a bad one. Oh well. But hey, we’ve still won 3 out of the last 4 games!

Fun while it lasted. But really… Mark Williams is the real deal. Just have to get stronger on defense. I feel pretty good about the team.

We knew this was coming…

Well Lamelo got screwed not being a Allstar starter. I new the media wouldn’t vote him in.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the coaches/media tried to keep him off the all star roster period.

Yeah… I don’t think he’s going to make it. I hate it for him. Not that the game really matters but he’s the perfect player for an Allstar game.

It’d be ridiculous if LaMelo isn’t an all star

By not making Lamelo an all-star starter, the Media is basically saying we don’t care about fans or viewership and don’t understand basketball (compared to player votes). If the NBA doesn’t make him an all-star, they deserve a lower rating and viewership by not listening to the fans. How can he have 400,000+ vote difference and not be allstar is mind boggling.

Small-medium sized rant:

The media has their minds made up about Melo and the hornets organization, which is incredible because I highly highly doubt they’ve actually watched any hornets games. Other than the box score or a clip of a dunk or highlight play.

One thing I cannot stand is when the media members put out some opinion or statement about the hornets and it’s clear that they don’t watch the games and know very little about the charlotte hornets. It happens all the time.

Yet, these self righteous nimrods are allowed to extricate Lamelo Ball from the all star roster despite him winning the fan vote. And the media members do this based on an opinion of a guy/team that they in reality know very little about…because they don’t watch any hornets basketball. Yet, still have the power.

The sad part/worst part? I can’t really blame them for not watching hornets basketball. It’s hard for fans to watch the hornets sometimes. It’s rough in charlotte.

Instead of clogging up the 2024/25 season thread with my ramblings like a low flush toilet in a truck stop bathroom, I’ve posted and expanded on this in my stupid thread if anyone wants to read my ramblings on the disconnect between the NBA and the fans.

Lamelo winning the fan vote but being voted 7th by the media was the least shocking thing I could ever imagine. Wouldn’t be shocked if he was completely excluded from the team.

The biggest question then seems to be, why bother with the fan vote at all? I get wanting to have a safety rail on it so that Jeremy Lin doesn’t get voted in as a starter or even worse a gamestop type push to get a completely terrible player voted in. But, in this case, a player wins the fan vote for backcourt East and is a statistical top 5 in a few offensive categories, there is no reason to not give him the starting spot. If it is purely based on being a bottom team, then don’t bother with the fan vote.

Yep, nailed it. I have a funny example of how this played out. I’ll write more later today
