2024-25 Hornets General Discussion

My 9yo requested we leave the game after Pei Pei and I had no reason not to honor that lol

Rozier was fixing games in Charlotte and rigging his own stats? Looking back on his performances I am not surprised. Could result in lifetime ban

Stumbled on this when I was trying to get a better understanding of our future draft capital. This had all slipped by me - I guess id lost track in last years flurry of deadline dealings. Didn’t realize that the price for the Kai trade was still hanging around and how consequential it is to have that pick. Also I can totally understand that starting the season w/o our starting center - those plans became obvious & clear early that we weren’t banging drums this year. And I get that it’s not something anyone from the org could come out & say for obvious reasons.

Im not mad - but it does feel like every other year - maybe even worse because everyone was supposed to be back and ready. And id expected us to be winning this season.

I’ll give Peterson the benefit of the doubt here - as landing any top 4-5 is huge - and will make a marked difference having whatever that piece is. 2025 is a very top heavy class that maybe minus Wemby could be even better than 2023. Im not even mad if we are less active this deadline - as long as they have a path moving forward & that plan starts kicking in this summer. Certain pieces I am still nervous we’d move (NSJ) impulsively. So hope we stand pat more or less.

The biggest things for me are finding a way to be more transparent with the fanbase moving forward on the injuries - it’s beyond time. I don’t think they get how beat down we are being left in the dark. Treat it as a common courtesy to those who invest financially or emotionally. In the same breath I understand they can only say so much right now.

And most importantly - no excuses - its full press next season. Don’t want anymore lottery picks for the foreseeable unless they are picks owed.

The NBA is panicking over ratings, yet doesn’t put the most popular player in the East who is averaging close to 30ppg in the all star game

What a day for the Charlotte Hornets. Man Hornets Law’s official holiday is now January 30th.

  • Screwed Melo out of ASG
  • Rozier throwing games
  • Tre Mann out for the season

I’m sure I could add something else but this is more than enough

There’s something almost poetically comical about the head of our new crack crew of medical professionals pulling a Kenny on us in flipping January when we can’t assemble a full third string to play as starters.

Where’s the Tylenol!?

For all the STHers that had their rates increased 25% or more this past offseason, where we all meeting up for a drink come renewal email week?

Man let me know. Long Islands and 151 shots all around. If you don’t know, you will find out after that. Lol

It’s crazy, literally no Hornet did anything today but exist as usual… and we get 3 depressing ass headlines related to our ongoing misery.

Hey @Eastley, my bad in the other thread thinking we might play ourselves into a 9th or 10th pick. The terribulls were only 5 games ahead of us, Philly sucks, we won 3 in a row, I had that nagging anxiety that a solidifying trade might help us make a run for the play-in game. But boy did the basketball gods order up a helluva curse for this season. Or is it a blessing.

Or are they gonna screw with us and have us win 8 games in a row to end the season with an NSJ and Isiah Wong heater.

Howdy all, let’s move on from Blue Thursday and embrace a new day of Hornets heartbreak!

Thought I would share my latest longform article for CLTure, I assigned mid-season grades for all players, Charles Lee and Jeff Peterson

This is excellent James. I appreciate it on many levels but the sober view seems empirically accurate despite where it will contrast/conflict with fan perceptions.

Legitimate question, the majority of the grades were above C. The teams performance and record is definitely a D- or below.

Does this indicate a good individual grade for a player that is fairly low on talent or to be more precise, a player that isn’t a real NBA difference marker? IOW, is this a team with a very low amount of starter level NBA talent?

Excellent question. I don’t know what the FO plans are, but I would guess that the injuries might limit what they do at the deadline. Which could delay, to some level, the progression to be competitive. Hopefully, they still make some moves.

Im fine with getting draft capital and swapping micic with roddy

was the miller 2026/27 thing a typo? or did I miss that he’ll miss all of next season?

I think it probably has to do with the fact that our record/performance doesn’t accurately reflect the level of talent we have. Lamelo, Brandon, Miles and Mark all have legitimate NBA starter talent, but that group has still yet to play a significant number of games together due to injuries (IMO, all four have played at at least B level, with Lamelo being the only A). And add to that the injuries to Tre and Grant which have also had a major impact. It’s true that we didn’t exactly set the world on fire in the handful of games when they were together, but we still have to take into account the crippling effect the injuries have had on overall performance and I think most of these grades did that.

Just canceled my FanDuel/Bally/Fabu whatever subscription. Think I’m going to take a sports fan vacation. Maybe do some painting. :fist:

Just made this trade good or bad?
