Oh I’d love for KJ to start the rest of the way. I’ve been wanting this team to trade away players and fully commit to the tank/appropriate rebuild strategy. We’ve accidentally/unintentionally tanked, but that doesn’t result in accumulating assets like intentionally rebuilding/tanking does. Last season kickstarted it, but Peterson and co. have fully committed to it.
So I say, start KJ. Play Knecht and have him split minutes equally with Green. Shit, start Knecht. Hell, even start Salaun. Optimize chances to get a top 3 pick this year. This is one of the best draft classes in a long time. And Flagg is almost as much as a franchise changer than Wemby.
What a shit show that would be. Mostly bad, but occasionally a pretty damn fun and exciting shit show. Coach Lee, please delight me. I know you frequently read HP to help guide your coaching decisions, so here’s a very sound lineup. Please and thank you.
Guys after a prolonged period of misery, I am finally excited again now that we’re embracing the tank. If we get Flagg, can you imagine how fun this lineup would be:
Melo 6’7
Knecht 6’6
Miller 6’7
Flagg 6’9
Grant Williams 6’7
Good size, floor spacing, everyone can shoot. Who cares about the backcourt defense when you can just run and gun it right?!?!
Chef, I said “fun”. Not “good”. and I think Knecht is a year younger grant?? Which is also fun. Listen man, I’ve been wanting things to radically change for almost 4 years. This is as close as we’ve been able to get. Let me have my moment chef haha
No actually, that’s all I have to say. That’s about all the excitement I have to muster. Im sure within the next 3-4 days I’ll come back down to reality, per hornets law.
Hey man, Peterson and the hornets have done all the right things since last trade deadline. Except for re signing miles bridges and drafting Salaun (probably). But outside I of that it’s been spot on decision making.
That sort of good decision making results in good karma. Good karma results in rewards such as Cooper Flagg.
Also, the wizards have 9 wins and there’s three other teams tied for 12 wins, including the hornets. We’re in the chase!
I’d say the past two trade deadlines have yielded some of the shrewdest front office work we’ve seen around here, maybe ever. The fact that we were able to turn Gordon Hayward, whose career was on life support, into Tre Mann and get a 1st round pick for PJ last year, and then another 1st for Cody and Vasa this year is mind boggling. We maximized all those guys’ value and then some.
And I believe we would hold the tie breaker over Washington given that they’ve won the season series against us? In case hornets and wizards records are a tie
Wow, this has been a trade deadline like no other. For the Hornets and league-wide. So many thoughts…
I’m a little disappointed to see Mark go. He was one of my guys. Hand picked (in my mind) early in his second year at Duke to be our franchise center.
I still think Mark will be really good. Especially with the Lakers. As long as he doesn’t help LeBron get another ring, I wish him all the best.
I have no issues with trading Mark for the value we got in return. I was never as high on Knect as some and I’m glad we drafted Tijane over him. But now we have him so I hope he’ll become what some envisioned.
You have to be impressed with the stockpile of future 1sts we’ve accumulated. While I don’t think most of them will be worth a damn as actual picks (too far out and teams will likely be contenders) but I just hope we can flip them into the right super star difference maker and/or proven vet piece we need to pair with our young core to make some real noise. And relatively soon.
I firmly believe we HAVE to have a top 3 pick in this draft so I’m happy with where the deadline moves have positioned us for that. A core of Melo, Brandon and Flagg/Bailey/Harper to build around would be a dream.
I’m glad we didn’t trade Miles especially at least for now. Probably more valuable down the line but I like what he brings and don’t feel he’s overpaid for his talent.
I’m not entertaining the trade Melo for more draft assets talk. Are we shooting to be good in 2035 or what. We’ve blown it up enough. Get this top 3 pick and use these assets to put a legit team around Melo so we can start to develop a winning culture Asap.
You just captured my thoughts on everything. Bullet by bullet, I agree 100%. Especially the part about Mark not helping LeBron and the Lakers win another title.
