Extremely frustrating. Especially now that Nick is hurt too. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s out for the next 4-6 weeks. Our guys never seem to just miss one or two games. I’ve never seen anything like this in all my years of watching sports.
Yeah, if that’s a small rotator cuff tear, Nick’s done for quite a while of he chooses not to play through it. And he shouldn’t imo. It really makes a lot of normal shoulder articulation difficult.
Too bad for nick Richards. We are so cursed. Welp…Taj Gibson cmon down!! Looks like we’ll be going small and I’m sure we will see more Salaun on the floor.
And the injury curse continues
The frustrating thing about this is how it was downplayed as nothing serious and he would be ready for the start of the season. It always seems to be something that doesn’t appear serious, then it turns out to be a multiple week thing.
Yes the lack of forthrightness has become infuriating over time. I cannot believe there weren’t more serious ramifications for how the hornets handled the mark Williams back injury last year. I just don’t know how they’re allowed to get away with obfuscating reality.
Pun absolutely intended, but it ADDS insult to injury.
With Mark still out and Nick’s situation unknown. Maybe this is good excuse to look at trading Bridges for a C. Can anyone think of a possible trade?
Not sure anyone wants to take on his 3/75 contract.
Miles has to start playing better before that becomes a real conversation. He is having a really slow start so far.
He’s never been a very high BBIQ player but it seems to be playing more instinctive and that’s not to good effect. And worse, he doesn’t seem to be able to go through defenders.
From @Plowright
I put a parlay on Naz Reid having a big game and I hit all the other legs of the bet…I only need one more rebound from Naz with 8-9 minutes left in the game. The hornets sucked so much that Minnesota put in their third stringers with about 8 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. No more Reid. I needed one more freaking rebound for about $300. And had 8 minutes to do it. The level of suck last night was unreal.
We obviously need to get healthy because the lack of size with both Cs out is impossible for us to overcome. But we also need more from Bridges and Bmill. I know Miller is still getting his legs but I don’t think we can be a highly competitive team until he takes that next step towards all-star status. And we need Miles to play up to the level of a #3. I love the fact that we’re deep, but I do wonder if playing 10-11 guys makes it a little harder for guys to find their rhythm. Will be interesting to see if Lee eventually contracts the rotation.
Unfortunately you’re right about the ripple effect of lacking our centers. It’s already bad without mark Williams and now it’s a disaster without nick Richards. I hope Richard’s absence makes people appreciate him more. He’s a perfectly fine backup NBA center. Not that he lacks warts, but he’s a fine backup.
It limits everything this team can do on both ends of the floor. They really have to be almost perfect to have a chance to win each night without bigs.
Also, mcdaniels just absolutely dogged tre mann all night. Mann couldn’t get near the three point line to initiate any sort of offensive motions. Mcdaniels just dominated Mann. By the time Mann found a little breathing room there was 8 seconds left on the shot clock.
This wasn’t one time possession, I counted about 4 of these last night from Mann. I was a little perturbed with coach Lee for not making an adjustment to help Mann get some breathing room. I know coach Lee wants guys to work through stuff, which I support, but there gotta be an adjustment from either mann or Lee to call for a high ball screen.
It’s not a hard adjustment. Take the “horns” approach and stick to guys up top to provide two ball screen options. They could’ve challenged mcdaniels to fight through two screens and make him pay for overplaying and being so aggressive.
And then you can start faking the horns look and then use a shooter (like Brandon miller) to set a secondary back screen, who will then pick and pop as an open shooter. That’s just a very classic and effective “Spain pick and roll” that can be run from a high ball screen beyond the three point line to create difficult decisions for an aggressive defender.
I’ve got to start seeing more of this implemented
Need to make a move man. Crazy
Ooof man, that sucks
Yeah! Send in James nnaji! Oh, wait. Nevermind. Run it with Taj Gibson, sag for Flagg.
OR our 2022 pick #13 Jalen Duren… Oh, wait…
Oh my
