2024-25 Hornets General Discussion

It must be an annual thing.

I guess the previous medical/training staff is saying, ā€œSee, it wasn’t usā€ right about now.

Or it could just all be a fluke.

Or there could be an actual voodoo curse.

Or it could be because the spectrum center is built on top of old Indian graveyards.

Or maybe it’s something in the water.

But in the most unusual twist, Lamelo ball is still healthy (I immediately knocked on wood after typing this, don’t worry).

it’s okay fam, you can always rely on me for some grounded conversation and optimism. Classic me. Always have to be the ā€œlook on the bright sideā€ guy. Classic!

Okay fam. We’re 8 games in and we’re sitting at 9th (play in) with a 3-5 record. We’ve played two games against a team who dominated the NBA finals and won the eastern conference by an absurd 14 games, and one game against a western conference finals team (who in my opinion got better!).

We even made a run in both Boston games and got very close in the second halves.

Oh, we missed brandon miller for a couple games, missed Josh green for a game or two, zero mark Williams, two games without Nick Richards, and have been running a lot of 39 year old Taj Gibson at center. Edit: Brandon miller is coming off an injury and is still finding his groove as well.

Oh yeah, Micic might as well be injured because he’s a healthy scratch and has played like total shit. Mann can run point but he’s still more of a combo guard. So no real backup PG.

And we’re still treading water at 3-5. The SE division leading hawks are 4-5. Who we played and probably should’ve beat in a close game. Guys, at some point maybe never, mark Williams will be back. Micic WILL get back in shape in a few weeks, and Richards will return in a month. We’ve got this. I guess.

Oh, I’m feeling great and not bitter at all anymore about the hornets keeping me from collecting $300 of earnings because the timberwolves were able to pull Naz Reid and the entire second string with 8:00+ left in the game. I’ve absolutely moved on. No bad feelings here, all glee!

Miles out 2 weeks

It’s never gonna stop, is it?

Cmon coach Lee, start Tidjane Salaun. Don’t be a baby chicken. Set him free and let him go nuts out there.

This shit man, after we’re all long gone the Hornets will be an NBA dynasty because we are paying the sins of it right now

I DEMAND MORE TIDJANE SALAUN. SET HIM FREE COACH LEE.

But seriously though, I would expect more TS with miles bridges on the shelf. Get out there and go nuts kid.

I expect a much more fluid and unclogged looking Brandon Miller. I am actually excited that Miles won’t be on the court

You and me both brother. Unfortunately, my attention will be split between the hornets and the #9unc/#1Kansas game tonight also at 7:00

LaMelo Ball is partnering with The Humane Society to donate 250 meals to pets for every point he scores this season

That’s awesome. Or pawsome

I don’t normally give these things much oxygen but honestly in what world is Tyrese Maxey making number 10 on this list and not a mention of Lamelo…

Enjoy it fellas, it probably won’t last long.

Eric was crazy over the top at the end of the game last night talking about a deep team with tons of talent.

I do think there is a huge difference in coaching this year and last. Lee seems to excel exactly where Cliff fell way short.

Last year, the start of the third would have been the end of the game. But this year, adjustment seemed to be made and an 11-0 run isn’t the end of the world.

With Lee, it’s the energy he has that I think these young guys needed to see. It will be interesting to see how that holds up over 82 games, but it reminds me of how Allan Bristow was back in the day with the LJ/Zo/Muggsy teams.

Totally agree. Cliff just had that curmudgeon, old man type persona that could sometimes feel like it sucked the life out of the team rather than breathe life into it. I know Pop and Tibs have made that work, but I don’t think that works nearly as well with young teams. This team definitely seems to feed off Lee’s energy, and the players allude to that in every interview. I think we finally got it right this time with this hire.

Edit: And I think you’re spot on with the Allan Bristow comp. I remember him fist-pumping and getting hype with those guys. That was a fun era.

Very much agree. All of a sudden we were down 9-10 points and I had the ā€œuh ohā€ feeling that we all know. We were 6/29 from three. Was not looking good.

And then Brandon miller was the dude and everything changed-offense, defense, shooting. Not sure what happened really, but it culminated in a ridiculous 52-19 run.

Just throwing this out there…if the Bucks continue to struggle and Giannis ends up demanding a trade, does anyone think we could put an attractive enough package together that wouldn’t have to include either Lamelo (who I’m sure is completely off the table) or Miller? Could some combination of Miles/Tre/Mark+whatever other role players they want, and I’m assuming like 4 1sts, be enough to get that done?

Giannis has history with Lee and may be intrigued by the possibility of teaming up with an emerging young star like Lamelo. A big 3 of Giannis, Lamelo and BMill likely gives him a better chance to win than aging out with Dame and Middleton.

Thoughts?
