One thing I will honestly say is that this whole thing solidified a HATE in me of the Lakers. Before this, even with the Kobe thing, them having LeBron and everything else I never really cared one way or the other about them. Their fans have been the absolute WORST through this whole situation. I never thought I would see a fan base more bandwagon, more braggadocious than say maybe Yankees or Cowboys fans but it really brought them out. First it was clearly they “won the trade”… then it was the Hornets tried to pull something over on them… now it’s we’re a poverty franchise who is only seeking attention… SMH these people are the worst and I want nothing but bad things for their team.
The issue with the lottery rigging isn’t with the nba, it’s that you are suggesting that one of the big four audit firms would conspire to do something counter to their charter. They just aren’t that stupid. The nba isn’t that big of a client to warrant that stupid either, even with the billions in advertising and media markets.
I should not that this is more in focus following AA’s debacle as Enron’s principal accounting/audit partner.
They are lottery odds, if you write a program to run the lottery, with just a basic random number generator and the statistical odds presented, you’ll see that they indeed produce random results. Even when random is the same team with different odds over several years hitting. It’s just how it works.
You are right.
I still do have serious concerns that the league as a whole is not independent of itself anymore. I really do think it is sports entertainment at this point.
I don’t however believe for a second that officiating and even in this trade debacle that there are not special teams with regard to the league and its media partners. That shit isn’t even tin foil, it’s, for me, nearly a fact at this point.
I don’t think there’s any rigged or lottery rigged reality to this stuff. But I do think about it sometimes. Obviously, there have been many things to happen to make me say “damn, really?” But thoughts for me don’t really equate beliefs.
Because any belief can be transformed based on various outcomes. The hornets could get a top 1 or 2 pick or the number 5 pick and that can form wildly different alternate thoughts lol.
For it to be that rigged, it would require so many levels of deception, effort, and quiet for so many people. An explosive rumor with any truth could destroy the league. Would be hard ti recover.
But it’s fun to wallow in our misery and hope that everyone is against us, and there is some reason for it (other than we’re simply fucking cursed). That makes it feel a little better, you know, since it’s more resentment that just pure misery haha.
On another note, I had a thought on the All-Star game. After listening to you sports radio all day talking about either how bad it was or what could be done, I thought in its form from last night, it would have been way more interesting with all baskets are one point. Play 21, win by 2.
The long range shot being worth three versus two really makes the game not interesting at this point.
I posted maybe two weeks ago that we were going to get the number one pick and Cooper Flagg. I have the screenshot. So that means it’ll happen.
You know, as the trendy pseudo spiritual TikToks say: MANIFEST IT. Well, pardon me while I manifest over here.
Cooper Flagg. Charlotte hornets. Never gets injured. Ever. He loves charlotte. 8 time all star with his tag team buddies Melo and Brandon.
I did think the odds of us getting the number 1 increased when he said he might go back to college. Felt like Andrew Luck on repeat.
I don’t blame him.
As long as we still end up with Bailey, I’m fine not getting Flag. If we are the worst team, we can only fall down to 4 correct?
Yep, Luck is exactly what I thought about when I read that. As long as we get the NBA version of Cam I could live with it.
This is great to see! Kick their ass Mark.
Lamelo and Mark Williams probable for tomorrow. Hornets going to LA trying to get W for vengeance. Hope Mark has 40/20
I was going to say. There’s no way that mark doesn’t play against the lakers tonight. I know he’s probably in his feels, and whatnot, and I support his process. But damn mark. Play the game against the Lakers big dog.
If anything, put up a huge game to spite the hornets. It would be crazy not to take this opportunity regardless of how he feels or why.
Agreed, I will be praying for a 30/20 game or something. Maybe Melo and the other guys will support mark and really try to get him looks to rack up the stats.
Wouldn’t it be ironic if…
…mark williams never really has significant injury issues moving forward into the future? After all the dust settles, and he’s back on the court-no more major injuries.
I doubt it, but it would be poetic.
Bruh. Hasn’t Hornets Law beaten this optimism out of you? Calamity. Disaster. Misery. They are our friends now. Have you been listening to John Lennon’s Imagine or something? If we draft Cooper Flagg, at best he will have a Grant Hill “what if?” career.
But, seriously, man, that would be cool. I’d love for Mark to get back to his rim protector potential. Hope springs eternal!
Well, here’s the truth: if the lakers hadn’t of pulled their little stunt-Mark would be a laker. And it would be very Hornets Law-like for him to stop having major injury issues when he goes to LA. That’s where my head was at when I wrote that haha
You are forgetting the most important part of Hornet’s Law…the cruelty needs to be added, the insult to injury, the coup de grace, hence #2
Can anyone get by the paywall on this. Curious to what mark said
