2024-25 Hornets General Discussion

Yeah, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a more drastic deterioration in a player’s game from one season to the next than what we’ve seen with Micic this year. It’s perplexing to say the least.

Nice watch

Woof, bad vibes around here. You could hear the echo for days. Cmon hornets, get healthy and wake up.

To break the status quo, here’s a video of joe mazzulla being the weirdest fucking guy in the nba. Thank god that he has an insanely talented roster and they win, because I could see his players and organization shit canning him because his personality is of the coarsest sandpaper.

Shit like this makes the rumors make sense that he and Charles Lee did not get along and Lee would actually do most of the work. I’ve heard from multiple podcasts and nba vets that they don’t like Mazzulla and don’t think he’s a very good coach actually.

If you want to listen to national media coverage of the Hornets over the last 10 years in a nutshell, listen to this 4 minute hit.

I found it hilarious. I didn’t realize we have been getting blown out in every game this year so far and lamelo’s been empty calorie stat padding. Pretty interesting, I’m the wiser for listening to this incredible insight.

Hollinger is a Hornets hater. He very very rarely talks positively about us.

Agreed, however this particularly hit me as “tell me you are just looking at stats without telling me you are just looking at stats.”

LaMelo has been one of the best players in the league to start the season and basically the only reason our record isn’t completely abysmal . Saying anything else shows you aren’t watching

I keep seeing articles about fake trades that would send Zach Lavine to Charlotte. I cannot adequately express how much I hate this. A Ball-Lavine backcourt would be defensively the worst (by far) in the NBA.

There’s a multitude of reasons, but that primarily.

MOUSSA. DONT MAKE ME BUY A MOUSSA DIABATE JERSEY.

If this keeps up somehow, I’ll do it. I’m serious. I think I saw that his per 36 numbers would be like 18 boards. This has been absolutely bonkers.

I just want to say this so it’ll fully sink in what he’s doing:

We out rebounded a Bucks team with Giannis and Lopez 53-40. And without our two centers in Mark and Richards.

What the fuck is happening.

It’s crazy for sure. With that being said. What he is doing is actually quite sustainable. He is a freak who just continued to mature after Michigan. It’s not like he is some kid who is on a heater with threes who can be chased off the line or will go cold. He is an eraser on the boards.

Ooooof 100k fine for LaMelo… obvious the kid is his father’s son. Incredibly skilled athlete, would be great to see him grow up some and be more serious but I don’t think it’ll ever happen. They’re just wired that way.

Drops repeated f bombs in interviews no fines or even mentions of it. Says “no homo” and gets $100k fine. Perhaps if you penalize him early for complete non-professionalism and threaten to stop giving him camera time, he doesn’t keep pushing boundaries.

His money, not ours. He’ll learn, one hopes

Homo thing was hilarious

Not needed and not cool for kids watching but hilarious.

Guess I’m just too old, but I watched the interview and missed it. Not even sure what it means in the context he used it

Given the repeated unprofessionalism via live cursing (which I both love and dislike at the same time) and the “no homo” slip, I still love Melo. (No homo of course)

I’ll pay my hornets planet 100k fine for that.

And I’m kidding, I do not endorse homophobia or anything like that. Just making a silly. I don’t think Melo is homophobic, but I agree with the nba for stepping in and doing that. You don’t want NBA public figures putting that out there.

Melo needs a PR coach. I think that’s also something he didn’t get by not going to college. College ball helps mature people and teaches how to be a professional. That’s not a slight on Melo, it is what it is. I also don’t think he’s college material. So I understand his decision.

Honestly, I thought for the people who thought it was cool to say that it stopped being cool like 10 years ago, when Melo was in middle school and probably about the time he stopped maturing as a person.

Focused on basketball from then on, obviously.

Agree with all of this. And in addition to his rebounding prowess, we’re starting to see evidence of better hands and touch around the basket as well. The past 2-3 games he’s made some tough catches in traffic and has had several finishes and even a couple of face up mid-rangers that he wasn’t making earlier in the season. Very pleased with his overall progression.

Yeah no doubt. Maybe even like 15-20 years ago. You know what we should bring back? The word “phat”. Is anyone else with me? People stopped saying that years ago also.
