You’re right, especially regarding the salary for a good vet. But I’m just ready to shift to win now mode. I had a fairly high tolerance for the tanking but after this result I’m ready to do something.
I wonder if the Spurs with Fox and Castle in place would consider trading back to 4 and if so what would it take.
Bball gods be damned. Since one was never going to happen, the top 4 is where you want to be considering this was the Kai Jones pick.
I am just frustrated that we have San Antonio & Philly in front of us. They are both guard heavy with elites. So naturally you’d say - sweet, Harper. But I think focus on looking at Bailey, VJ, Tre & Fears. We won’t know a thing with Giannis sweeps - Philly could tie 3 into moving Embid - so we have no idea what we have with 4 now. So that is the frustrating part.
It also allows us to look at vets out there. Our cap isn’t amazing - but could we move some of our mid guys & go chase an All-Star? Maybe?
For me: VJ, Ace and Tre
I’d say that gives me hope for VJ.
We have a really obvious spot for VJ and he he might be a point of attack defender.
We had a really obvious spot for Donovan Clingan last year. So naturally we took who ended up being one of the worst players to step on an NBA floor that I’ve ever seen

We don’t need another undersized PF. PJ, Miles and now Ace? We don’t even need another decent sized SF ie Miller, Tidjane and now Ace? Plus are we really looking to draft a back up to Miller w the 4th pick this year? No let Tidjane figure that out as Miller’s back up.
You could move Miller to the 2 (to accommodate Ace) but Miller is not as explosive or fast as VJ. If only Tre were just a little more defensive minded. I can only hope that Philly falls in love w Ace.
Looks like the draft team will really have to earn their money this year.
Player comp wise - Id seen VJ mentioned as Westbrook & Ace as mentioned with Brandon Miller. In what Ive seen I feel like Ace is maybe more of a Jabari Smith Jr (less dog than Miller) & VJ more of a shorter Jimmy Buckets - and less Westrbrook. I feel like it’s foolish to try and get hopes up for either, so this is def a wait & see year more than others. With the uncertainty - I think now more than ever Id explore all options - esp if there is something outside of the draft.
This might seem so shortsighted. We of course have a due diligence to draft whoever we think will end up being the best player. But we so badly need a real culture shifter. I want someone that looks visibly hurt when we lose and someone who will stop just accepting that we’re a losing franchise. Someone that will dive for loose balls and make winning plays. I’m listening to Buzz Beat right now and they’re saying this guy from South Carolina plays his ass off and if you squint hard enough has some Draymond to his game. I won’t act like I watched much South Carolina basketball this year but we need a player like that.
I know VJ is really intense and plays hard, and Kon is an absolute dog who I think will do anything to win. This is where I’m leaning right now.
A lot of people seem to think Ace needs a lot of organizational structure around him to develop. Ace and Charlotte seem like an awful marriage tbh.
