I’ve been warming up on Milller lately. I’d keep both he and Kon though. Honestly.. I don’t think we need to gut the younger players in a trade right now.
Report claiming we’ve held discussions with the Knicks about a trade for KAT
I like Towns as a player. Bu, he’s so expensive. Plus, do we really need more scoring. I’d honestly bc more interested in an athletic center, who doesn’t have to have the ball to be affective. Someone like Mitchell Robinson, Gafford.. fits perfectly to me.
I will say it is interesting though, but it really feels like a win now move.
Easy pass for me
I would guess that any Hornets involvement would be as a third or fourth team. Not as a landing spot for KAT.
That seems about right, as I don’t see how he financially works here, without giving up Lamelo.
Hornets could easily make money work for now with Bridges and Sexton included, would not really be willing to give up more than that considering our position and I don’t think that would get it done. I would offer that and then sweeten it with the Suns 2026 first and then say ok we tried.
KAT is a splash trade but do we really need that, I agree with other posters when they say Gafford & Robinson a C with a bit of defence that’s what we really need. Avalrado as a back up point guard would be nice
Now that the Warriors are likely not going to be a factor, do we call them and ask about Steph? ![]()
It’ll take 1 of our big 3 Melo, Miller or Kon then a couple of picks to get Curry, I just don’t think you do that for a 37 year old. As much as I’d love to see another Curry in a Hornets uni I just don’t think you pull the trigger
Really not down with the “big 3" thing. 2 of the three are very very tradeable
And the team is currently 9 games below .500
As far as the Charlotte and KAT blurbs that have been making their way around the interwebs/socials. I highly, highly doubt that our front office is serious about this. Based on the last year and a half (or whatever), our FO strikes me as the type that makes calls to inquire on players just to hear what the other teams says. Opposed to GM Mitch K who was largely asleep at the wheel. So no, I’m not paying any mind to KAT to Charlotte stuff.
Why? It doesn’t really make sense. What do we have that the Knicks would want to justify them pulling a part their team?
First: KAT makes 57m next year and has a player option for 61m through the 2027/28 season. Hint: he’s going to exercise that 61m dollar salary. Uh, no thanks.
Second: speaking of the salary cap, per the end of the 2026/27 season, Brandon miller will be a RFA. If miller stays healthy and continues to blossom, he’s gonna get PAID.
So how is Charlotte going to have KAT, Melo, Miller on the salary cap? That’s 61m, 44m, and (insert Miller’s salary). We can speculate Miller’s salary all we want, but even without that-between KAT and Melo, that’s 105m of salary alone. And then add in Brandon Miller’s 30m salary (bare ass minimum of 30m)
Lastly, KAT and Melo on the floor can be exciting if you love offense. But holy shit, that’s a defensive shit storm of epic proportions.
Edit: I’d guarantee that the hornets FO is calling the Knicks to see how we can serve as a facilitating 3rd/4th team to make salaries work in the new CBA hellscape of the NBA.
Instead I’d be calling New Orleans about Trey Murphy. As it’s been said Miller will be RFA and will be expecting to be paid now I’d tempt them with Miller and 2 1st’s, he’s averaging 22pts and 6 rebounds a game
If this team was healthy with the big 3 most of the season, we’d have a far better record. And this team has long so many close games. I think you aren’t giving the big 3 enough credit for the upside they very well could have very soon.
If my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle
I remember Max Verstapin saying this about his mom a few years back in an interview. lol
“As for Hornets that might be on the move, veteran forward Miles Bridges is drawing significant interest, league sources told The Athletic. The Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns are all known to be among the interested parties, though it remains to be seen if any team can compel the Hornets to give Bridges up. Charlotte’s lack of interest in the Bucks’ Kyle Kuzma is known to be an obstacle to a potential deal between those two teams. Draft capital is also a pivotal part of the conversation.
“They want a first (round pick),” one league source said. “Maybe two.”“
If Steve Kerr didn’t like the defensive stylings of Kuminga and his low BBIQ, I can’t wait to see how Miles Bridges fits into their system.
Charlotte asking for “maybe even two 1st rounders” for Bridges is quite the bold stance. Frankly, I’d be happy with just a 1st. I see a team sending a single 1st rounder as less of a problem. I could see a team who is wanting to push for a deep playoff run talking themselves into it.
The problem is the salary. Lots of these teams are up against (or close) to that hard cap. So they’ll have to send matching salary back.
And we don’t want to take a bad contract or players that’ll waste a roster spot (given all our young players). Edit: great example, they want us to take on Kyle kuzma in order to match the salaries (yuck). And we’re not in a position in which we want to take on multiple players.
A note, I was thinking that this was Miles’s last year. Bridges has one more year at 23m through 2026/27 end of season. That complicates the matter a bit. On one hand, I could see that a team would want bridges for one more year at 23m. And if they want to trade his expiring contract as a trade deadline asset next year, that’s a possibility.
But again, trades are much more complicated than ever before. I don’t necessarily see his expiring 23m as a good asset.
However…if he was making 12m or so it would be much easier for teams to manage the hard cap implications.
Negotiation…
