2025/26 Trade Deadline

Oh without a doubt. I’ve read “the art of the deal” 34 times. Your start the phone call to Milwaukee with, “Giannis straight up”, and then tell them how stupid they are and slam the phone down. If they say no, you threaten them with frivolous litigation for as long as you can. And then they’ll eventually agree to sending us two first round picks for miles bridges despite them going far into the hard cap penalties.

Thats respect and how deals are done.

What do people think about Jock Landale from Memphis, I also like the look of GG Jackson he’s not been used a lot, he’s been 1st off the bench more often than not. He could be had for a 2nd rd pick and has lots of potential

I don’t know about Landale. I’ve seen Jackson be impressive in spurts but I’m not sure about his maturity (there seem to have been some issues there). If the staff could develop him he could be a decent add especially for a 2nd; but just know we REALLY value those seconds!

I like Nic Claxton’s game. He can handle the ball, rebound, been averaging a couple assists a game, averaging double digit points, 1.5 blocks and is from nearby Greenville SC.

I don’t really understand what the Heat are doing with Kel’el Ware. I get that he’s 21 and Spo is tough to play for, and Spo demands a lot of his players (especially his bigs.) The Bam and Ware lineups have been sort of a mixed bag. Spo isn’t afraid to play small lineups.

Are they going to trade him or what? I know Miami has been in “rumors” to land Giannis, which I don’t understand how that works. And i know Ware would have to be in that trade. I wouldn’t mind landing ware, but I just don’t understand what’s going on with Ware’s low usage lately

From the Hornets social media, these are the rankings & stats for the month of January. This is why I don’t think they will make any big moves by the deadline. I think even Sexton will be kept.

I totally agree. Highly unlikely any significant trades occur in terms of meaningful players. Given how the team is playing, this feels like the correct path. With the only trade potential I’d envision are roster consolidation trades involving players such as Green, Grant, Mann, etc. in order to acquire more draft capital.

It’s also looking unlikely Sexton gets moved. I’ll say this, if sexton wants to re sign in Charlotte this offseason to a team friendly deal (think MLE level), I’m all for that. If so, offloading Mann and/or Green might be in order.

The other potential is that the Hornets are involved in big trades as a third or fourth team to help facilitate, which would help in terms of asset collection. This feels more likely.

Flipside view is that should one of these teams want miles, the price tag to coax Charlotte to move and upset to the vibe just went up

The Heat might need to acquire another first-round pick to sweeten its offer. That can be achieved in several several ways. Among them: 1). Try to find a team that will trade a 2026 or 2027 first-round pick to Miami for Andrew Wiggins. 2). Amend the protections on the first-round pick due Charlotte. That first-rounder is lottery protected in 2027 and unprotected in 2028. If Heat waives the protections and Charlotte agrees to accept an unprotected Heat pick in 2026 or 2028, that would free up a third first-rounder to trade to the Bucks.

Chef, I’ll lead with this because I think we’re mostly on the same page. When it comes to Miles Bridges, the reality is that if the price is right, I’d ship off Miles in a hot second. But as we’ve seen in the past, the demand for Miles Bridges outside of Charlotte isn’t the same as what Charlotte Hornets fans think. (Looking at Miles’s free agency where no other team really offered him anything outside of the MLE, but Hornets fans think they got a deal for paying Bridges 25m a season)

The problem with trading Bridges is complicated on two factors: 1) the likely mediocre/subpar draft capital return 2) the reality that the hornets will need to take on contracts.

It was reported that Charlotte was looking for two 1st round picks for Bridges. And yes folks, you don’t need to explain that it was intentionally leaked by the Hornets. There is no universe where that happens. None. Even the Pelicans and Kings aren’t that stupid. I don’t even think a team wants to send the Hornets a 1st for Bridges. If Bridges nets the hornets two 1st round picks, I’ll buy you a pizza and have it delivered to you.

Bridges makes 25m this season and roughly 24m next season. I really don’t want to take on a bad contract(s) from a team to justify sending us a 1st round pick (which is highly likely not going to be particularly good) Because that’s what itll likely take. Unless it’s a future pick from another team that has promise.

To others who aren’t wanting to trade Miles Bridges: what if this 27/28 year old who makes his living off of being an explosive athlete has a serious injury? With Melo, Kon, Miller…is Bridges going to make or break the Hornets future? No. The future is about that trio previously mentioned.

Lol.. seriously though I think you guys are preaching to the choir -here- about Bridges. I was never a fan of us drafting him and then his issues on top of things but I do defend his actually being on the freaking court and he does have certain above average skills. I also don’t think his contract was horrible -at the time- given our teams situation at that moment. I’m also not sure about how him being shipped out would effect the locker room. BUT obviously I wouldn’t likely be bothered if he gets moved. As we’ve previously talked about the 2 first round pick thing is just trade bluster…

Eh, I dunno. I think there would be a lot of people very upset if bridges were to be traded right now. Even if it was for far more than he’s actually worth. I don’t think the adults at HP is a good representative of the vast majority of the Hornets fanbase. It’s why I’m sad to see HP go.

For posterity’s sake here. Given the winning ways and the fact that this starting lineup of Melo, Kon, Miller, Bridges, Moussa is 12-1 (or whatever it is now), I’m not particularly antsy to trade miles. Particularly because he has one more year on his contract. Again, just to be clear. Let this ride.

But remember the Mark Williams trade when we should’ve landed two 1st round picks? (Okay, it was a 1st and the other was the rights to a 1st round swap, but still) If a stupid, desperate team offers something similar for Miles Bridges before the deadline, I’d be infuriated if the Hornets didn’t accept that kind of offer. Look at this draft capital we have below. If we could add two more 1sts to that for the soon to be expiring Bridges?? We’re developing a fantastic chest of draft capital.

Charlotte has their own first in the next seven years and four additional firsts that were acquired in prior trades. The most valuable is a 2027 top-14 protected first from the Miami Heat that becomes unprotected in 2028 and a 2027 top-2 protected first from the Mavericks.

Again, this will never, ever happen. But I never dreamed to almost get a deal with for Mark Williams that involved a 1st round pick and the rights to another 1st round pick swap.

It will be interesting to see if aged but still contributing super stars (LeBron, harden, Durant, khwai, etc) figure out that just because they can get paid $30m+ they can’t without crippling the team from competing for a championship.

If they truly just want to stay in basketball and win rings in a meaningful way they have to essentially play for under $20m per year.

LeBron could seriously play for another 5 years and contribute but it would have to be at closer to the vet min than $25m.

How we feeling about Lonzo possibly joining? Could go either way.

I would be down for this. Lonzo is good for 10 mins a game but would help us in practice and in rescue situations and he plays well with Lamelo.

I, like Lance Armstrong, think 1 ball is enough

I’m good on lonzo. that’s a pass from me, but if we’re able to add some 2nd rounders and it makes sense I wouldn’t be too upset about it either

Windhorst is saying the Cavs are open to trading anyone on their team. A trade for Jarrett Allen is pretty tempting to me ngl.
