Okay, so who’s that? What does that even mean? He’s just talking…
I don’t see Kai as a center. With his mobility, he is more of a forward at least for now.
What he is now and what he’ll be in three years are likely very different. And don’t tell me playing in China lol.
besides article outsider pumping KAI, more from Mitch
“At 11, quite frankly you’re probably going to end up with someone who is 18 or 19,” he said in a Zoom call with reporters. “There is a player or two that are four-year guys that would be considered at 11."
[only know 2, 3 pt shooters Kispert Duarte…slip no juniors considered…no Davion Mitchell?]Edit: guess Davion possible as a four year junior sat one year transfer auburn-baylor
“But if it is a young player, we’d like that player to be a talented player with great character that would fit into what we’re trying to build here in Charlotte.”
[ maybe knocked interview out of park, but first came to mind no Jalen Johnson]
“We’re still at that level where we’ve got to add talent to this team,” Kupchak said. “We played pretty well last year. But we had a couple of injuries. Melo went down. Gordon went down and we plummeted. Our performance. To me, that’s just because — we’re not deep enough to be able to sustain an injury or two."
“And in this league, you have to assume you’re going to have an injury or two.”
more on Center, Zeller, Biz
“We don’t know what the future holds for them,” Kupchak said. “Do they want to come back here? I think they do. And then there is a marketplace that has to be considered.”
“So if you just look at a depth chart, it’s clear to see … there’s a need there. Having said that, P.J. Washington did play some center last year. There aren’t too many centers in the draft. We’re not going to hunt a center.”
came away with first impression on read…yes center a big need on roster on paper, center not priority going to overpay in dollars or pick, and no top 11 center imo. Actually seeing zoom might come across different.
My biggest issue with Kai is his shot blocking. 1.5 blocks per 36 compared to Isaiah Jackson’s 4.5 per 36.
It doesn’t get much better looking at their rebound rate: 7.6 per 36 vs. 11.4 per 36.
I get there’s more to evaluation than stat comparison but the difference between the two is stark.
If we’re going for a raw, athletic big who’ll play in Greensboro for a year then I’ll take Isaiah … who’s also a year younger.
We can’t chase a need. Pick the best player and keep going. Wagner is top of my realistic (though it’s looking increasingly less realistic that he’ll be there) Hornets board and yet he’s a versatile forward who figures to spend most of his time playing the 3. I’d still pick him and work out roster composition from there.
i keep coming back to sengun. i think he is going to be really good.
Sorry for the semi repetitious nature of this but … my top options for #11:
- Wagner
- Bouknight
- Moody
- Trade for 16 & 18
- Springer
- Trade for 19 & 21 (would love to swap our 2 2nds for #32 too)
- Ziaire Williams
Options 5 & 6 are very close for me. I think including #56 & #57 for #32 swings it ahead of picking Springer.
He’ll either be Willy Hernangomez or Sabonis
I don’t like the willy comp. He is already better offensively, way better.
If Sengun was 2 inches taller and 30lbs heavier I’d be very into him
Trade Rozier and the 11th for Kemba and the 6th pick! Draft Bouknight!
Bouknight or bust in this draft! Bouknight is going to be the next Beal/Ben Gordon mix
Get Bouknight and Sandro Mamukelashvili and that’ll be a successful draft!
Bouknight a potential target of both OKC (6) and Warriors (7).
Wagner possibly going 9th to the Kings.
Why would OKC do this unless they just make money in never actually getting to good? I have a ton of confidence Cade is the top of this draft. I have no confidence that between luck and projection meets world that Cade is guaranteed to be better than SGA’s trajectory.
Man I’d be HYPE if this comes to fruition
good move IF bouknight, wagner, sengun are off the board
timing? shai will be getting paid soon correct? it does not fit their projections?
only thing i can come up with
Agreed. BPA potential is very high with him
