Draft Prospects 2021

In looking at teams fora trade, I wonder if terry + monk + 11 gets paskal Siam. Slide pj to second unit or add pj and not 11.

Yes he is over paid but he would really do well with LaMelo and can also spell Hayward. It just depends what his value is relative to his contract

Would that not give us a bit of a hole on the back court?

Temporarily. Thinking more long term. Hayward can play the sg if needed.

Apparently Toronto is listening to offers on Siakam, I’d be shocked if we weren’t at least making that call.

That is the kind of move I would expect us to make to take a step into the next tier

So happy about this. Worth giving him a shot

I am not one to fall in love with or wind up strongly against draft prospects. I realize the front office has more insight into personality and character/work ethic than I do, and I tend to trust/hope they know what they are doing.

I’ve listened to so many podcasts and mock drafts and can honestly be talked into at least 10 guys after that top 6. That said, I would be disappointed if we passed on Bouknight or Moody at 11. For me, If they are both gone, I would be fine with a trade back to either pick two of these guys that I could be talked into, or one plus another asset.

There are issues with all of these guys and varying potential as well. Hopefully the front office identifies that mamba gene in one of these guys so we can get our not-top-ten-superstar like Booker, Donovan Mitchell, Giannis, Klay, Kawhi, etc.

Looking at first round guys, I think I’m up to 14 or 15 guys after those top 6 that I could be talked into (and that doesn’t include guys like Giddey, Duarte, and some of the smaller pure PGs). So, I’m maybe cool with trading for both of OKC’s teens picks or both of the Knicks picks.
One of the later guys that intrigues me is Cam Thomas, who is called a 6’3” scorer, though I’m not sure he’s been measured in a combine/camp setting since 2019. We worked him out on 7.23, so if he is taller than 6’3” now, with at least a plus 3 wingspan, I’m intrigued.
A second round guy we just worked out is EJ Onu, who has ridiculous length (7’8” wingspan on a 6’11” frame) and rim protection along with 3 point shooting abilities. But he played at NAIA level. Call me intrigued with one of our late 2nds.

The question therefore is who, if they’re on the board at 11, wouldn’t you trade away from?

I’m talking 11 for 16 & 18 as I wouldn’t do 11 for 19 & 21.

I think I’m at Wagner & Moody as certs and probably/possibly Bouknight too as players I wouldn’t trade away from.

I also really like Springer but think I’d roll the dice that we could get him at 16.

I agree with those three

Yep, I was at Bouknight and Moody at 11 if available. If they aren’t available, I’m looking at a trade back to collect assets.

Have to be near the end of draft workouts right?

Bouknight, Moody, Wagner.

If Keon or Duarte is on the board and we traded for any less than 16, 18 and a second round upgrade of our mid-50s picks, I’d also be upset.

Have we had Bouknight in for a workout?

Yes, we had Bouknight in for a workout on 7.2 according to atthehive.com who has an updated list. And HornetsPR tweeted his workout attendance that day.

This is kinda where I’m at. For one, Mitch has earned my trust from a talent evaluation/draft standpoint. He may not go the direction I would hope but with his track record I’m confident with the players that will be available he’ll get us someone talented that can be a significant contributor on this roster at some point.

I’d be pretty excited with Boughknight or Moody but more and more the idea of 16 & 18 is appealing to me. There’s going to be enough talented, high potential guys at that point that I’d be excited to double up and address the wing and big needs.

Sengun a evidently had a very strong workout.

Scouts apparently really really like him.

I like him based on his highlights. Probably as much as bouknight

Yeah, would be interesting. Does not solve our rim protection issues but may be the stretch 5 we have coveted for like 7 years.
