I think it’s too early too, but the ingredients are there for bust.
Bouk averaged over 15 points in games he got 20 mins or more in which was only 6 games regular season or 10 games including preseason. I agreed all along he has plenty maturing to do and needs to fix his attitude. But The only ingredient I see holding him back thus far is lack of playing time.
Bouk has demonstrated he’s a skilled offensive player. The only thing in question is whether he can round out the other parts of his game to become a complete player. I don’t if he’ll ever be a consistent starter or not. That’ll be up to him, but I have to believe there’s a place in the league for a guy with his offensive ability. At worst I could see him following Monk’s path as a rotational second unit scorer.
One he has a ton to learn on defense . And has to be willing to try. Second maturing he has a long way to go .Like trying to hit JB last season. Attltude is next looking like he is no hurry to get up and down the court. I hate his body langage. That and he is somewhat of a black hole on offense.
If he can or want’s to fix all that . He could become a rotation player
Bouknight from a small sample size scored around 350 points last season.Averaged 35% on 2point shots and 35% on 3 point shots . Averaging less than 1 rebound and one assist. His offensive numbers are a lot worse than i thought
He’s a 6th man, not a starter, especially on our roster. If we had Dejounte Murray at PG then, ok he could fit as a starter. But not next to LaMelo.
Bouknight needs to fix his attitude. I do see where @Dav is coming from with the entitled comment, just like Monk was. He clearly lacks maturity, again like Monk. Both exude(d) the attitude of ‘I’m talented, so you should start me’. Contrast that to the attitude of, thankfully, all our other young players. Cliff won’t give Bouknight proper minutes until he earns them, until he buys into what the team needs from him. There was a great comment of his around that subject from Cliff that I’ll try to find.
All that said, all that needs to happen is for Bouknight to have an epiphany, for it to click and he can be a very good player for us and the only thing in his way is himself. It would be great if he ‘gets it’ himself, but I’d like to think the attitude of our roster will help him get there. We’re paying a lot of money for Hayward and Terry, and it would be great to see them help bring this kid, and he is a kid, along.
*I’m just saying, I have played the young guys. So now if you want to say to me … I know I’ve seen this quote from a couple of people, ‘Player development is all about minutes.’ I would disagree with that, I would say player development is all about minutes earned.
I get the Monk comparisons, of an enigmatic, super athletic and skilled undersized guard who probably dominated everywhere and never received pushback. But I also think its unfair to say they’re the exact same, too. Monk always seemed more mercurial, or the closed off type where nobody knows what’s going on, plus he was actually busted for drugs.
Bouk, while he needs to mature a bit, seems more engaged with his teammates, and hasn’t gotten into any substance abuse.
I always like to give at least a first year grace period, as the adjustment period is huge in regards to lifestyle, money, responsibilities, work ethic, strength, knowledge, and the game itself. Some are more prepared, some get hit like a ton of bricks. Now we can see how he’ll dust himself off. (Also, seeing first hand what happened to Miles can sober people up real fast, could have a huge maturing effect on the young guys).
If year 2 is much the same as year 1, then its definitely more heading to Bustville, but if he’s able to carve out a role and show progression, I think he can become a big time part of the rotation.
Bobby has some helpful/insightful information on this (the Miles Bridges situation for Charlotte) and explains why we might not pull the QO. Also clarifies that the QO can be removed w/out the players’ consent up until the 13th and after that, only w/ consent of both parties.
Evidently, there is a way that Miles could be an RFA again next year, need to do more research to be able to pass on the info correctly though.
I bet we keep him under the QO as long as we can. Basically what this means is that once we get past the 13th, it will be Miles decision whether or not he lets us rescind, and most likely at that point he wouldn’t let us considering that that amount would be more than he could get on open market at that point.
Miles is toxic now. Any team that takes him on will have hell to pay in the media. The argument will be that “X team” just turned a violent criminal loose in our community and your family is not safe. He needs to plead down and get psychological help to have any chance of salvaging his career and freedom.
You do see players like Kareem Hunt and Joe Mixon playing though, without much talk. So I’d say that Miles will play again and they really won’t talk much about it.
Why would we pull the offer when the damage has already been done. Just play it out and see what happens. Would be really short sighted and a backwards move to give up on Miles before he has his day in court.
I can’t believe they haven’t pulled the offer.
“His day in court”. What does that mean? What sort of mitigating evidence or outcome are you looking for to justify keeping him?
Settlement and a seal on the case. Probably an NDA, so that Miles can continue…
I don’t want him in NBA personally.
So as to not lose the second best player on our roster at 24 years old for nothing?
And to support a human being that you have invested in heavily?
I mean, does everyone think we have just not spoken with Miles or something? Innocent until proven guilty.
We basically have him on a “risk-free” deal right now, why give him to the Lakers?
I mean, I am all for cutting ties if everything turns out to be the way it seems right now, but that is assumptiom vs. Fact-based decision making.
You don’t give up a franchise talent based on an assumption vs fact.
I am just trying to view this strictly from a basketball perspective until we know more about everything.
Do I want a wife abuser on our team? Absolutely not. But lets wait and see some facts, right now all we have seen is one side, and while that looks really bad, it seems that there is much more to this story than what is out there.
If there wasn’t, we would have pulled the QO by now
He beat the hell out of his wife in front of his kid.
This whole statement is what is wrong with society. The facts are out there, a report from a MEDICAL DOCTOR detailing domestic violence, many photos showing bruises and scars from the said abuse, and a naive eye-witness saying without coercion “Daddy choked Mommy as usual”. These are complemented with an arrest and felony-DV charges pressed? How much more facts do you need from Mychelle Johnson to come to your own “fact-based decision”?
The photos, reports, and eye witnesses are there, nothing much is left to assumption. Plus the photo of lean doesn’t help.
Did you not see where I said that I am trying to view it from a basketball perspective until we have more information?
Obviously the Hornets have some info that we don’t or the offer would have already been rescinded.
Not advocating for beating women but thanks for the accusation.
Instagram does not equal fact and if it turns out to be fact then that will be that and Miles will be gone.
I don’t think that a person that went through that would be partying it up twerking all over Instagram 3 or 4 days later with her reported injuries so it seems like there is some more to the story.
Here I will leave the link again to her post, so you can look up the images again. I doubt she would beat herself that badly.

Here is Katie Heindl with Locked On Hornets discussing how we view DV in sports, which is what is happening here.
You are totally misunderstanding my post. I literally said that if the accusatioms stand up that he will be done.
I don’t understand how I can’t get it across that I am sympathetic to her situation and simply viewing it from a strategic basketball perspective.
And from a strategic basketball perspective it makes sense to keep him under the QO until more facts come out.
