It’s a nice pick for a trade too if we wanna go after Myles Turner
Not sure but I don’t think we have the salaries to match unless we absorb the excess of his contract in our space and acquire a TPE
Didn’t someone on here say we’d have 20+ mil in cap?
If we decline everyone but Devonte’s cap hold, we have something like 25m and change I thought. I don’t think you have to consider the FRP because you can sign them over the cap (I thought) regardless.
We’d be able to fit Myles Turner in and still have some room to play with then right?
I’m guessing a trade would look like (one of the young guys) + 11 for Turner
That trade might not be worth it but throwing it out there
Available Possible Starting Centers for us would be
Free Agents:
Richaun Holmes
Andre Drummond
Montrez Harrell
Daniel Theis
Serge Ibaka (PO)
Nerlans Noel
Cody Zeller
Restricted Free Agents:
Jarret Allen
Mitchell Robinson
John Collins
Trade Possibilities:
Myles Turner
Tristan Thompson
Marvin Bagley
Steven Adams
Al Horford
Mo Bamba
Robert Williams
Turner for PJ sounds okay to me but I won’t include the 11th pick (in the event we don’t move up). A future distant 1st maybe and one between Vern/Richards.
Don’t think if this doable though but yeah I think Turner is a good get. 17.5mm per year for the next 2 years is more than okay, will still give you that long term flexibility. Really depends on what Indiana wants assets wise aside from PJ
Mitch Kupchak said he expects 29 million + before the QO’s
Devonte’ has a 4.7M cap hold so that holds up
I look at that list and think easy pass. I would so much rather punt on a big money long term commitment and be marginally worse or the same next year
Boston’s facing a major tax crunch this summer and likely needs to move at least one of Kemba, Smart, or Thompson to have any sort of flexibility to simply retain Fournier and have a basic “draft pick + tax MLE” off-season. There’s likepy an opportunity for someone to pick up Thompson or Smart for cheap.
Well I am team Smart over Thompson. Love Thompson, but obviously Smart is the better guy for us and probably for every team in the NBA
Well, Smart’s going to be more expensive than Thompson if Boston has to move him. My guess is that’s their last-resort move to clear cap. Thompson might be just about free, Smart you’re probably talking about a minimum of a first-round pick and a useable player.
Totally depends on how desperate their situation is. At some point of desperation, Smart becomes a number the same as Thompson.
how about a sign and trade, smart for devonte. the last S&T worked pretty well.
But I think the high level is that this is a brainer for us. I cannot possibly fathom what value we would see in Thompson if we didn’t play Zeller consistently.
I think Smart could be a good fit here, he definitely brings a toughness we don’t always have.
He’s definitely had a down year is that a sign of him declining or just a weird year? He also has a tendency to throw up the occasional terrible shot.
I think Boston is going to be using him as trade bait for a scorer. Because Kemba has been hot and cold all year.
melo/smart/terry/wannamaker/bench sg x is a fantastic plug and play guard lineup especially when you figure in gordon hayward being able to move between sg and sf.
Only thing is Smart only has one year left on his deal I’m pretty sure and he’s the type of player most teams will want
last year Bis 66/67 centers, Zeller 32 always hurt, 15 years Bis & Zeller, lets move on. With PJ, develop Vernon/Carey, we only sign one center FA.
The FA market is not greatest, hope don’t overpay with need & cap space, as us Zeller or Mitch Mozgov. Drummond rumors have been with us for a while, hope just stay rumours, but feels like something we would do. Would like Holmes at right price. Such low bar, about all free agents a improvement.
I’m also pushing a need improvement at wing. FA 3p making playmakers expensive but have some money if not spend all on center. And while not all SG/SF as would prefer, around #11 pick there is talent at SG size and SF.
Hayward out we 9-20, big drop off in talent in backups and replacements.
At right price Devonte and Monk can both be considered attractive RFA resigns. But I’m sticking with anothers idea I read, part of rebuilding move on to more experienced roster begins getting JB a couple backcourt vets here.
