I’m fine with Terry or Monk doing that, as they have a much easier time getting a shot off. But… we gotta drive in there either way.

4 points, 2 blocks, 3 steals, 5 assists, 17 rebounds in 77 minutes among our “Center-PF’s” (PJ,Biz,Cody)…
Is that enough for this team even with LaMelo and Monk in the lineup?
We have to find an answer for that for our future with this group.
Also is it strange to see Cody fall so far out of the lineups in general at this point (outside of his many injuries). I thought the coaches used to love him for all his intangibles.
I’m wondering about that also. Not sure what he did, as he always plays hard and is better offensively than Biz. Plus he’s taller.
Biz and Cody combined for 26 minutes and they weren’t even productive minutes - the combined points, boards, blocks, steals, even fouls were of no consequence. PJ and Miles were far more effective “bigs” out there. I have to wonder if something is wrong with Cody because he normally is more productive just breathing but they are both non-additive (and that’s against a bone fide big in Ayton).
PJ might not have scored but he pulled down 12 boards (4 ORB), 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks and actually aggressively played. I don’t think PJ is in the same bucket of little as our 6’9" and 7’ centers.
And the ugliest stat of all… gave up 21 Offensive rebounds.

Good effort Devote terry miles carry team to nearly almost pull out win
Zeller so disappoint, when healthy actually a solid start but hurting again like career…know hard to do in hunt for #4 and appears we not add anyone, but long term thinking best don’t play on road trip to try and get healthy
Hayward wore out, all these 38+ minute games…since not look like doing upgrades for this season…offseason really need add a first round pick/free agent/trade for talent at SF/wing

Just kind of upset that Devonte wasted a great game with a forced hero shot at the end. He didn’t even think about passing. With all the late game heroics this season I’d thought we were better. Terry or even Hayward has to be taking that. Devonte totally forgot or disregarded his better teammates.
Devonte should not be forcing critical shots. THAT’S TERRY’S JOB.

With some of the makes he had last night, I don’t see how we can criticize Devonte for taking a shot in that situation in a game where he was clearly feeling it. It’s not as if Devonte hasn’t stepped and made plenty of clutch shots for us over the past two years.

That was a horrible shot to me. He doesn’t really have the skill and size to play iso ball and shut everyone else out. Id much rather have Rozier or Hayward do that. That shot wasn’t needed and should have at least found an open shot. I don’t dislike him… but he just isn’t a one on one player.
You’re certainly entitled to that opinion. I just think it would be a fairer criticism if he didn’t have a demonstrated history of making shots just like that one.

Devonte was on fire after hitting a few big shots, so the play was probably drawn up for him. You always ride the hot hand.
That said, it was only a 2 point deficit, and Mikal got switched on him. Instead of looking to get a three, he should’ve tried to drive the lane to draw another defender for a kickout or a cutter, or get all the way to the hole if nobody helps. Or swing to Terry for a reset/pick and roll to get Mikal off him.
Wrong decision on his part, but if I was coach I would’ve called his number.
We don’t have a problem with Devonte taking the shot, we have a problem with a play not being drawn up for him.
The “play” was simply an iso, which isn’t really a drawn up play per say (outside of getting him off the screen to get the ball)
Again, Devonte should have been the one to take the shot, but I would have rathered seen him get a shot up coming off of a screen, or at the very least get a switch.

It wasn’t great but considering the nuclear heat coming off of Devonte’, I didn’t care if he wanted to go 1 on 5 from center court.
