Time for a big rebounder

What would it take to get Bamba?

PJ and First would do it

Problem is you cannot afford to resign him

Have to trade Terry or Gordo

Hate to say it, but Gordon probably should be traded. Only because of windows and money

Before we do anything expensive, seems like this one is too easy to pass up.

Could we just trade that Pelicans pick for Bagley probably? Or Vern + the pick for Bagley

To me, I’d make that VCJ trade in a minute. Not that MB3 is necessarily a huge upside but that I don’t believe VCJ is and I’d like to try the unknown vs the known in this scenario.

I really don’t know what the market for Bagley is but thag tweet makes him sound almost free so 2 seconds and Vernon would be good value for them

I think we could get him for just a second and like McDaniel’s trying to make money work . Might have to still add in Vern . Going to look on real gm.

I’d take that deal for sure though. I have zero attachment to VCJ. He has zero upside to me.

Just looked at what it would take as far as to make it work. It would take Miles and PJ money together to make a trade work to get Bagley. Not interested at all.

Eww… would it really?

#2 pick in the draft is expensive

We have a dire, dire need for a big and we have assets to make a trade happen. If we are serious about getting into the playoffs then a move is necessary. We are at a stage now where I’d argue the progress of our young roster is being compromised due to a lack of rim protection, post D and rebounding.

I think PJ is a prime example of an asset we need to utilise in a trade. Clearly Miles needs resigning plus we have McDaniels, and there’s Thor & Kai developing. It, therefore, doesn’t make monetary sense to commit to PJ … so use his value to bring a true Centre in. Kelly has a very tradeable contract too and we can replace his wing minutes without too much of a loss of quality.

Additionally, to echo @Chef’s point, we have to try to move on from Gordon if at all possible as there are simply too many young prospects we need to invest cap room into. I worry as to how we’ll be able to maintain the good quality depth we currently enjoy while paying serious money to Terry, Gordon & Miles next season.

Yup. And melo’s deal is going to a big one. Like I posted previously, I would love to utilize his abilities and reputation for a real difference maker like sabonis or the like. Even if it also requires a protected first.

Absolutely. It’s clear to all of us that we need to give Miles and Melo a chance to be our future, our joint figureheads so to speak, and we’ve extended Terry too. Gordon’s cap hit will start to hurt our roster composition from next season.

I think we have reached the point where we’d be better off using/trading a 1st to bring in that vet #5 we need, especially as doing so will further focus our efforts on developing the plethora of young talent we have, rather than overloading the roster with prospects. Nice to be in this position.

I think Gordon is the only way we can get a big and replace his production. If we could slide Miles over to the 3 and PJ can start producing with about 15pts /6rebs and add a vet center we would be ok with letting Gordon go. Just so happens that Gordon’s contract matches Bamba and Ross or either Turner and Ross.

Hornets out: Hayward, plums, 2nd
Hornets in: Bamba, Myles Turner, Gary Harris

Pacers out: turner, lamb, Justin holiday, top 14 protected 1st
Pacers in: Hayward, plums, 2nd

Magic out: Bamba, harris
Magic in: holiday, lamb, pacers 1st

We’d need to send out a 1st, which I’m all for if either turner or bamba are involved. Indiana has been pretty firm in what they want for Turner-but maybe that changes here as time goes on.

2021 is the year of bamba for me. Last year it was John collins. Who will it be next year, ā€œPowell’s most wanted player of the year that will never end up in a Hornets jerseyā€.

Catchy? Eh, could use some work. I’ll workshop that one.

2022 early potential targets for my list: Nassir Little, Derrick White

Read a article that the Hornets are real big on Kai Jones . They all so said they want bring him along in the Hornets system . Develop him in our system. They seam to be much higher on him and Richards with Vern falling behind . Thats the reason they traded for Plumlee and his short inexpensive contract . Thinking one of the two will be good to go as early as next season. That plan sounds good for a lot of reasons mainly cap . If Kai gets stronger and better on the boards he could become a monster.

PJ Washington, McDaniels, Richards and 2022 1st for Daniel Gafford and Corey Kispert?
