2022 Trade Deadline Thread

Definitely need a guard before Saturday with Ish gone and Cody and JB hurt. Expect raise a swarm guard until find somebody…just about any body. Getting IT another NBA shot and 10-day contract not worst thing in world considering whats out there.

but really have to see to believe Michael Jordan pay any Isaiah Thomas
more likely bring back Wannamaker to a 10-day

Ballwhore was/is DJ Augustin’s friend and used to post on BCP1.0. Not sure he lasted more than a few drop-ins after DJ moved on.

Buckets came to us (BCP/HP) due to being a Wisconsin fan and a fan of Frank but he stuck around for more than just Frank convos and was part of the HP Fantasy stuff for a few years there. He didn’t come over to the new board unless he did so as a new user (e.g. new user name). I thought he went on to work for an organization (not ours) in some capacity but I might not be remembering the details clearly on that.

Bouk is “hurt”, and even if he wasn’t, I don’t see JB giving him any time.

I’ve thought Harrell was the perfect guy for this team for quite a while. Im stoked we were able to get him for what we did. Such a great deal. So glad we didn’t give up Kai Jones. Can’t say I’m sad seeing Ish go. Would rather those minutes go to Bouknight…

Also, would love for Richards to play the backup center spot. Too bad we weren’t able to get rid of Plumlee. I’m afraid Richards won’t see the floor…

But all in all… such a great deal for us. Finally some toughness.

Buckets is most assuredly working in the Association

I would guess so. Really good eye for things and stats/adv analytics.

I’d happily work for the association. I’d clean the sweat off the floor, take the trash out, give solid high fives.

Totally disagree. And that isn’t me just being a Wake homer. Ish was almost always impactful when he played. Had a couple of huge games for us on the rare occasions when he got big minutes. Played with great pace, smart player, great facilitator, and was a sneaky good offensive contributor. I wish we could’ve found a bigger role for him. It was a good trade because we need Harrell more than we needed Ish, but Ish was definitely a net positive

Well gonna need another ball handler but that move was kind of a low risk, high reward move. makes you realize how the FO sees our current team, a play-in team at best. Pretty sure we can’t fall lower than 10 unless NY goes batshit crazy down the stretch (assuming here that the Wiz are also mailing it in).

At the very least, Trezz will bring some physicality and effort on the floor, something we desperately lack. I mean with Hayward out, we’re bound to lose some games. But at least I want the team to be in the thick of it rather than the shit show that was the last 6 games.

  1. Pretty excited about Harrell. Feel like we’ve needed a guy like him for a long time. Price was right, as Vernon Carey didn’t seem like he was going to take the next step with us. Ish was a fine price. That being said…
  2. I thought Ish was great for what he brought here to do. At times he was a little focused on his own scoring but at times, that’s exactly what we needed.
  3. Glad we still have PJ. I like a lot of his contributions. Still don’t understand the hate towards him other than he appears to not being living up to lofty expectations.
  4. Portland and Indiana have whole new teams. That’s a lot of new peeps.
  5. If there’s a Nets/6ers East finals, there are going to be some crazy story lines. Must watch TV.
  6. Porzingis trade was a wild. But he’s been half-man/half-a-season for a minute now, so I can understand an org’s frustration with him.
  7. Hope PJ Dozier can make a career somewhere. He’s from Columbia and good dude. Maybe it will work out in Orlando.

What’s the defensive take on him? I see people saying he’s not a big improvement, but is he a sieve or just not outstanding? I see he’s short for a 5.

I’m with you on this. Was petrified initially to see we traded for Trez as I feared that WAS was extracting a heavier price than I was going to be comfortable with but for Ish + 2ndRP, I am more than happy with it.

I agree on Ish. Loved what he brought and part of what he brought that I mentioned often was that he was benchable without penalty. Still grabbed his lunchbox and hat like it was nothing to come in after sitting for 5-6 games straight. The guy is epically professional.

Very glad we still have PJ for now. If we trade him in the offseason, I’d like to see the value we get with that. He’s still of significant value to us, particularly with Gordon out for an extended period. And he can fall back to the 4 more now which is likely good for his longevity.

As for the future, we have good options contract-wise going into the offseason. As small as it seems, getting rid of VCJ’s 1.9m guaranteed is a positive on balance IMO.

Cannot recall who I heard with this tidbit (maybe the Dunker Spot?) that we’ve been a top 10 defense going back the last 6 or 7 games now. 22nd in offense, however over that same period. So maybe the FO feels we’re over-correcting (for early season defensive woes) and need some easy bucket answers more than defensive ones. Cannot say I agree with that on the whole but thought the metrics were interesting seeing as you say, Trez is not a defensive stalwart.

Hopefully this lets PJ play PF, as he should be. I’m hoping that fixes a lot of his issues. He’s a good player and glad we just didn’t give him away.

Okay so “not a defensive stalwart?” Nice way of saying he’s bad at defense or simply saying he’s average or unremarkable?

106.9 defrtg according the Official NBA Stats | Stats | NBA.com. Not sure though where to compare that to say if he’s passable or not on D. But for context, Bridges is at 111.4 while Plums at 108.3

Trez brings an edge we sorely, sorely lack. He’ll stand his ground, box out, grab boards and never stop trying. Doesn’t really move the needle for us but I can see what he’ll add.

Good that PJ can get more minutes at the #4 now as that’s clearly his position. If nothing else he can hopefully raise his value for the off-season trade that needs to happen.

Getting VC’s guaranteed contract off the books next season is a win in of itself.

Sad to see Ish go as we need a vet PG who’s ok not playing for four games and then able to offer 16 minutes off the bench one night without missing a beat.

I’d hoped for more but it’s clear Mitch will not pay over the odds in trades and we can be thankful for that.

We did free up a roster spot today. Maybe we will play the Buyout market. I think anyone impactful will be long gone before we get a chance to sign

Not mad at the trade at all but there’s a small part of me that does wonder “what if” with Vernon Carey. I know he was a defensive liability but with what he flashed offensively, I just wish we could have got a decent sample size, to see if there was anything there. Especially as desperate as we were at the position.

Vernon just never excited me. Kai Jones does though… and I hope the front office sees that also.

Yeah, I wouldn’t say he excited me either. Just a little intrigue considering our need at the position. I agree I’m much more excited about Kai and willing to wait on his development.
