Draft Prospects 2021

I assume if it’s being spoken about publicly, it’s likely dead or would need to be resuscitated minimally.

I am thinking the rumors of Charlotte are going something like this

Nyk: 19 + 21 + Mitchell Robinson for 11

Gs: 14 + wiseman for 11

Haha, usually true.

The only things I know are these:

  1. We like Myles
  2. We love Zo
  3. We love Gordo but if someone will reach for a third star, we will happily trade his contract because we now have Melo
  4. We really like Sengun
  5. We like a player that we never worked out (publicly) don’t know who
  6. We like Kai and the white Zags kid
  7. The GS trade scuttlebutt is real… the Kid was our pick last year and we got lucky Melo fell.

It’s going to be a fun night tomorrow

No way

I’d take either in a NY and GS minute

Haha

Cmon, would love either

On number five I bet that’s Wagner. I’LL BET MONEY ON IT!

Yeah thats typically the case huh? Well it does seem like Mitch is on a mission, most we have been mentioned in anything during his tenure.

Looked at Hayward for Turner and Arron Gordon from Houston It works . Who gets the draft picks?
Gordons contract is bad and hes 32 , I could see them Indy offering the 13 pick to us to get fair value for Hayward the 13th pick is for taking the contract just taking a guess Or to Houston for Gordon

Would be a very happy Hornets fan

Just looking.
We could end up with
Melo
Terry
ZO
Bridges
Turner

Key reserves Washington,Gordon Two first round picks McDaniel’s and the Martins

Interesting move
we take on EG to have Houston pay picks to pacers Hay/Myles, and Houston gets lamb for pacers money to work…but EG such a bum now, hope could get done w/o

anyhow in order to make sure we get playmaker replacement Lorenzo we probably need to offer near Hayward money slot, tight cap fit for RFA offer, to open more space rozier biggest roster cap piece among other much smaller, all get more back more to varying degrees

The GS one is too good to be true, surely?

Bigs take time and Wiseman definitely started to ‘get it’ before picking up an injury. We would simplify his role and develop him gradually.

Not sure re. Robinson’s contract situation but that would be the only caveat, otherwise I’d be happy with the NY trade too.

My point is that 11 for 19 and 21 makes little sense on value from Charlotte.

11 for 16 and 18 is better but still doesn’t make sense pre draft

In other words, Charlotte isn’t looking to trade more like taking calls

Assuming the Warriors can’t acquire Beal on Thursday, they’d be open to smaller moves. One league source reiterated this week that Golden State would be interested in packaging the Nos. 7 and 14 picks for a starting-caliber player.

Draft, Trade, Golden State Warriors

It’s becoming increasingly clear that, if Golden State holds onto both picks, it’ll take a high-upside prospect at No. 7 and a plug-and-play player at No. 14. Numerous names have been linked to the Warriors at seven, but The Chronicle’s latest intel suggests that they’ve zeroed in on four players there: Kuminga, Giddey, Connecticut guard James Bouknight and Michigan forward Franz Wagner.

Draft, James Bouknight, Franz Wagner,

If you decided on a youth movement in a deep draft, rozier + pj + 2 2nds could net you 7 and 14 without giving up 11. Or Hayward + future protected first could net you 7 + 14 + wiggins without giving up 11. I bet you could also package 14 and Wiggins for a shorter term deal and later pick with another team too.

so i am bored at work. forgive me.

espn latest insider mock (thanks to a coworker who pays for this drivel) has sengun going 9 to the kings with wagner off the board alread. they have kispert going 11 to charlotte with moody at 12 to the spurs.

i know this board would erupt in a drafting dj augustin kind of way if the hornets pass on moody for kispert.

the point of the post is that in the write up on the kings they say: The Kings are being aggressive in trade talks and there is a chance they won’t be making this pick, or their second-round pick at No. 39, as they have some contracts on their books they may look to unload with Marvin Bagley III and Buddy Hield.

i wonder if punting the center position to bagley and moving up from 11 to 9 could be a very savvy move.

fwiw: charlotte’s write up and reasoning hasn’t changed in 4 insider mock draft articles from kispert. IE: they have no idea what charlotte is actually doing or thinking

I am now genuinely addled by the options and reads on this draft. My first thought today was that it all depends on which model the team subscribes. If it’s the Vecenie model - this has Tier 1 = Cade, Tier 2 = Suggs, Green, Mobley, Tier 3 = Kuminga, Barnes, and Tier 4 runs from player 7 - 21 - then I think we do take the draft night roll and if Kuminga drops to us- we keep, otherwise we deal. If however our boards looks more like every other model and Tier 3 = Wagner, Moody, Bouknight, Sengun, Garuba, Giddey, Mitchell, Williams, Jones, Keon, Springer or some facsimile therein, I cannot imagine we’re dealing the pick unless it’s a GSW (7&14, and contract swap) or OKC (18, 16, plus one other thing).

In the case of the latter, meaning we pick 11th, I know that Mitch said rightly that we are not at a place yet to pick on fit alone but I do think we’re at a place to not pick based on bad fit. To me, that starts to rule out guys like Garuba or Mitchell. I almost think it rules out Kai Jones as well.

Assuming Bouknight is long gone and MEM moved up for Giddey purposely, I’d say for me, fit wise, the order goes Wagner, Moody, Williams, Keon, Springer, Sengun+. Also, in that case, there’s essentially 4 draft spots and to me, 6 good candidates that we could end up with and that’s really nice.

- I worry about the event that Kuminga could drop to us. To me IF it happens, it would have Vonleh/Monk written all over it and this time, I am more inclined to let that pitch go by. On the other hand, if he’s got the skillset and the mindset and it’s just a question of soak-time, I am way on board with it.

+ If we do move either Jalen, Miles, or PJ for any reason and we don’t pull back a 4/small-ball 5, then Sengun moves all the way to the left of that order.

I don’t buy the logic being used around Kispert - it’s the old thing that we pick 3 & 4 year guys. I don’t think that’s actually played out and if anything, Frank burned us the last time we did.

Respect on the bored at work on Draft Day - it should be a regional holiday IMO, I liked it better when it was around 4th of July weekend and everyone had checked out of work already.

i have this sneaky suspicion that in 5 years there is a solid tier 1 for this draft with cade, green and mobley. i think green has the potential to be in the “what if/what were they thinking” darko, sam bowie conversation.

There’s no way GS would trade wiseman and 14 for 11. We’d have to be sending a player or another pick back. I mean, even though I’m cooler on wiseman id do that in a heartbeat. The fact that trade would be giving away wiseman tells me that GS is even cooler on wiseman than I am…

Anyone who replaces the martins is fine with me

If we pass on Sengun if he is there it will be tough
