I hope people are happy for me to share this profile I did on Brandon-Miller, some exclusive quotes and a film deep dive which I think most will find interesting.

One of our few very bright spots this season.

Great article Plowright!

I have loved your content this season as usual James. Keep it up!

I also saw and appreciated (because I feel it too) the painful look on your face when Scotto said Hayward is likely to get bought out. Lol

Nice work bro! How’s the baby?

I want to throw this out there before the DET game tonight…who wasn’t just wowed with 24s midrange game vs the Wolves? Combined with his great 3 ball he very well could be our best player in a couple seasons.

Plowright did an article on it:

Said it in the chat. Miller in year 3 is probably going to be the best player on the roster and it won’t be close

Oh, we can screw that up.

Lamelo Ball will be in year 6 at that point so if he is better than prime Lamelo Ball we will be BALLLLLIIINNNN

We have different opinions on how good lamelo is

Yeah but the difference is as much as I respect your view on the league, you are WAY too low on Lamelo, who is 22 years old averaging 25 pts 8 assists and 6 rebounds in a Steve Clifford offense in 2024.

You are probably correct. I don’t love melo, definitely aspects of his game I just don’t like.

I think at one point he may be a top 7 guard in the league. Maybe.

I think miller has the chops to be a top 10 player in the league

Brandon is really starting to string together some nice games. Love to see it. Again, would love to see him more featured in the offense.

edit: i do feel like this has gotten a little better recently. Running some more sets and actions for him. So i do want to give some credit where it’s due.

I would love to see them start developing his 18 ft and in game. Running sets for him to get mismatches near the foul line. Use the rest of this busted season to help make him a complete player and not just the modern offense of set shot or drive. He has a real skill set to be a bigger version of demar derozan. Or a version of paul pierce

There should be a concerted and deliberate process to make him into jayson tatum. The chops are there.

I think they can both be top 10 in the league and if that happens we will be in pretty good shape

I agree with you on that. Obviously, Miller has a TON of work to do. Melo has significant changes he needs to make but he is way closer at this point than miller.

I have to disagree Melo seams to learn at a much slower pace. Melo is real good right now top ten point in the league right now. He has the ability to be really good but needs to work on his defense.Leakly took his place on defence last game.

Lamelo has improved his on ball defense a whole lot this season.

As far as learning at a slower pace, I think he has made very steady improvement each season even with injuries. Lets hope he can stay healthy the rest of this season so that he can work hard this offseason.

I really wish both him and Miller were on the Team USA final list

Guess he is our SG now. On that note, I’m graduating him to full name honors. Him is Brandon Miller, no beer required

I know this is the "It's Miller Time!" thread, but since we’re talking about Lamelo, I agree with @GoBobcats24. I think his defense has improved this year. I really liked the way he played against twolves. Outside of a couple ill-advised quick, long 3s, he was very good. Just need to improve his decision making on those 3s. Miller has been excellent the last few games. Can’t wait to see his development in a couple years. Both should see their usage rates go up with Rozier gone, and Hayward probably soon to be gone.

I guess I’m somewhere in between on Chef and GoBobcats on Lamelo. I’m probably not quite as down on him as Chef, as I do think he has the potential to be an all-NBA player, but I do agree with Chef that there are aspects of his game that are concerning. The thing that stands out to me most is his decision-making. That’s probably the most critical element for any leader or face of the franchise type guy. I think he plays a bit recklessly at times and his shot selection is questionable. I’ve seen him dribble out the shot-clock and jack up crazy shots or disrupt momentum with the super long 3s early in the shot clock more times than I’d like. At the same time, his shot-making ability is undeniable and his court vision and unflappability in big moments are the elite skills that indeed make him special. There’s every reason to think he can address his weaknesses given that he’s still early in his career. It’s also worth noting that he has missed a lot of court time his first several years. He’s not an elite defender for sure, but it’s also true that there are plenty of great guards who weren’t elite on that end. Magic, Steph and Dame come to mind. I am very concerned about his fragility though.

I think Brandon has the whole package. Not a lot of flaws in his game. I will be shocked if he doesn’t have multiple all-NBA seasons ahead of him. And I do think he has the ability to be a legit 2-way player. Great defensive instincts and he seems to have the desire to play hard on that end. Will be fun watching him develop, and watching them develop synergy with each other.

Edit: Didn’t mean to re-state a lot of what tnhornetsfan said regarding decision-making. Didn’t see your post while I was drafting mine, but I’m in full agreement with the concerns you stated.
