The Brandon Miller Thread

I am sure not looking at BMill and saying, damn, wish we had Scoot. I am loving what Miller brings to the court so far.

You just can’t fall too much in love with draft prospects as the NBA is on such another level from any other league or college.

Not to mention a lot of us still feel snakebit with drafting MKG assuming he could learn to shoot.

We did good for a change.

It’s natural to compare guys from the same draft class. Miller and Scoot will forever be linked. We took the best guy for us. Miller just fit our needs better. He may well prove to be the better player period when it’s all said and done. Can’t know that after 2 games but Miller has definitely gotten off to a better start and is displaying all the qualities that make you believe he could develop into a star. Impossible to be anything other than excited about his future right now.

Loved when Miller walked into Stewart’s chest last night after the foul. Was just enough to say ā€œyou’re not scaring me.ā€

Dude has loads of potential. Maybe more of a playmaker too than I anticipated.

That no look alley oop from almost halfcourt that Richards flubbed was pretty insane

That Scoot kid is an absolute can’t miss. I mean, he can miss a lot of shots, and miss his teammates with passes, and miss dribble. But otherwise…

I’m excited to watch all of the top 5 guys develop, including Scoot. They’ll all have their ups and downs this year, with varying cries of ā€œSEE! SEE! THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE PICK!ā€

That being said, Miller is looking like a terrific basketball player that most importantly does not look like he needs a certain type of player around him for him to be successful. I want more of that.

Hope to see the team get him more shots very soon.

I’m very happy we drafted Miller. I think the can’t miss stuff (on Scoot) was so over the top ridiculous. Literally anyone can miss

Agreed. I don’t want to see any of these kids fail, but definitely want to see our guy succeed. Hopefully they’ll all give us something fun to watch over the next several years. Projecting how good 18/19 year-olds are going to be is hard. We’ve gotten it wrong a lot of times. Looks like we may have gotten it right this year. It’s gonna be a fun ride watching Miller develop.

This dude has been deer in headlights for 3 games. He is not really creating opps for teammates and is not using his quickness, can’t shoot, looks like a guy that needs a lot more time. Good thing he is 19 and a rookie but I have been waiting for him to show me ANYTHING and honestly he just hasn’t

Also getting destroyed on defense.

This was what surprised me watching him last night, it wasn’t like he was inherently bad, it was like he didn’t know how to try.

I am sure he will come around and be an impact guy. He just isn’t as was advertised, as this ready to go, played against pros guy we heard about.

I think he will be OK, he’s figuring things out.

I’m very happy with who we drafted though.

I think Miller looks to have great #2 option potential. I don’t think he’ll ever become a player who can take over a game, primarily due to his lack of elite athleticism (though he is a perfectly decent NBA wing athlete) but he’ll certainly help you win.

I think you pretty much nailed it. The only minor caveat being that you’d want some high level rim pressure to complement him, but otherwise, he’s about as well-rounded an NBA player as you can realistically hope to draft.

I think the "It's Miller Time!" is going to be special. Its not much of a question to me. I absolutely think he’ll be a player who can take over games at some point. He’s literally only scratching the surface and already showing evidence of that. He’s shown flashes of the athleticism. He’s shown flashes of how lethal the 3 can be. He doesn’t force things. His intelligence to play the right way on both ends and the way he’s been under control, his efficiency is all ahead of schedule early on.

Once he’s had an offseason or two to hit the weight room and develop his body, he’s really going to be a problem.

He was/is worth every bit of the suffering we endured last season to get him and he’s the foundational piece we’ve long been so desperate for. Short of Wemby you couldn’t ask for much more.

You could even make the argument that he’s a more complete all-around player than Wemby at this point. Wemby’s 3-pt game is still a work in progress while Miller can score efficiently at all three levels.

People are comparing him to Paul George but I am telling you Miller is further along than George and Tatum as a rookie.

Also he definitely seems to be above average on the athleticism scale.

It all comes down to creating his own offense. That’s the part of his repertoire that, if it develops, will enable him to take over games. Some combination of ball handling and athletic improvement will get him there, and it’s far from a stretch to think he’ll make it. Definitely a better prospect than I thought he was.

It’s awesome seeing all the comps between T-Mac, Paul George, Paul Pierce, Tatum, Rice, Mashburn. Good company, shows that his ceiling is pretty high.

Rice and Mash, and even Paul Pierce seem more of a SF vs guard oriented like the others, and I feel Miller will be more of the guard oriented type.

I think people have equated the magical term ā€œathleticismā€ with the idea of elite athletes like T-Mac and Vince. But those are unicorns that even top athletes look at in awe. Blake Griffin and Westbrook and Rose in their prime.

Miller looks like a top notch athlete to me. His explosiveness may be unexpected, but it’s obvious when he takes off for dunks, or his sneaky block shots that come out of nowhere. I’m guessing he probably has been hesitant to fly into the lane based on his lack of strength, which looks like he’s not as athletic.

But with strength training to his body, it should add more explosiveness and speed and leaping ability, I think he’s more a Tatum type athlete than Pierce or Mash. And Pierce was a very underrated athlete in his prime, but he still seemed not as fast or explosive as the quicker twitched guards.

Just saying I called all of this and i’m very happy to be right. Future star. For those of you who hated on him it’s not too late. For those of you who supported another MJ 2nd overall pick with no fear I commend and love you.

In the draft process and summer league, sure. I haven’t had anything negative to say about miller in the regular season because he’s played quite well
