I don’t think that anyone is saying that
The thing that’s remarkable to me is how much better he looks compared to the preseason. We saw flashes, but honestly, he looked like he was maybe a full season away from getting to this point based on his preseason performances. He seems so comfortable and under control. With slightly improved handles and strength he will be able to get to any spot on the floor he wants. His mid-range game is extremely fluid and he can obviously shoot from distance so he’s going to be a nightmare to guard as he continues to develop. And I love the fact that he isn’t afraid to attack the rim. I think he definitely has elements of all the guys he’s being compared to, and from the early returns, I don’t think it’s hyperbolic to draw those comparison.
Says the guy that had a Trailblazers avatar for months
You can say what you want, but I’ve had nothing but nice things to say about miller since the regular season started.
As I’ve always said, I’d love to be proved wrong. And so far, I have been proved wrong. And that’s a good thing. I know basketball, I’m not blind.
Let it go guys.
Edit: you can feel free to joke with me and give me shit (I support that), but feel free to cut back on how I’m unfair to miller and don’t have anything good to say about him sort or vibe. That’s not accurate
You’re right man, I selected a new avatar from one of everyone’s favorite bobcats.
I must admit I was a pro Scoot supporter, but never rubbished Miller and after the first 3 games i was wrong. He fits our system better than Scoot would of and looking at the way both have started Miller looks a future all star.
I’ve been very impressed with his maturity and poise, thing that originally put me off was the off court problem.
Maybe if he got everyone else to give a shit we’d be decent. He and Mark are the the only consistently high IQ players
You mean the off court problem that he was 100% exonerated for on multiple legal levels???
As in it was hyped up BS?
I was a victim of the Scoot hype train but kind of pivoted when it looked like we were inevitably going to draft Miller.
Then I looked into his game more and compared it to past drafts and it made me forget all about Scoot.
Scoot could be a very good player in the NBA but again, I am all in on Miller.
He is very advanced for a rookie in today’s game and we are blessed to have him, although I think we could have gotten Wemby if it wasn’t for our anti-tank mentality late last season, Miller seems like one heck of a consolation prize haha.
I admit, I was a little disappointed when we took Miller instead of Scoot. I thought he would be another Dame or Mitchell. He may still be. But after 3 games, Miller just looks amazing and his ceiling is extremely high, like all-NBA high. Plus, he’s 6’ 9". As much flak as I give MK, looks like he got the pick right.
Yeah man, after missing out on Mitchell and SGA I really wanted a dynamic guard. After all, we’ve been needing one forever. And we still do.
But we have a lot of other needs anyways and miller has been superb
I honestly felt like I was in the twilight zone during the draft process when everyone seemed to be picking apart Millers supposed flaws and propping Scoot up on a pedestal. I just couldn’t believe how overwhelming the support for Scoot was over Brandon and it felt like so few people were seeing what seemed so clear to me.
Not a knock on Scoot and he could certainly be great as well but I never saw anything that made me doubt Brandon reaching his potential. What his potential represents is so elusive and difficult to find and the only hope we ever had of getting that was via the draft. There was no better opportunity for us to get what he is/will be.
Well we’re only three games in and based on this small three game sample size, it would appear that the scoot camp and most folks across the NBA are wrong.
What I underestimated with Miller was just how high his BBIQ would be, especially for a rookie. He’s so clever with his movement and angles that he partially negates the lack of an elite first step. And, please, let’s keep things in perspective … Miller was being graded, certainly by me and I suspect by most, relative to a #2 pick.
My doubts on him becoming a true, take over the game, #1 option, are still there. But he’s a lot closer to being that guy than I thought he would be. As I posted above, some combination of an improved handle and first step burst could well get him there. I’m certainly pulling for the guy and would much, much rather be proved wrong on the Scoot vs. Miller debate than right.
That said, I wasn’t deflated when we drafted him as I was when we favoured Miles over SGA. Miller was always going to be good, it’s just that he looks like he could be very, very good.
Another player comparison that comes to mind for me with Miller is Grant Hill. Miller has a controlled smoothness about his game that is reminiscent of Hill. Like Hill, Miller doesn’t seem to possess blinding speed or off the charts athleticism, although like Hill, he’s still very athletic. I wouldn’t say he has the handles of Hill just yet, but other facets of his game, like his court vision and defensive instincts are similar to me.
Just saw the highlights. He looks like the type of guy that will make games substantially easier for us.
It’s early, and I don’t want to overstate his abilities just like I don’t want people to be overly critical when he inevitably has some rough games.
But, man… looks like a basketball player.
Yes anyone expecting anything close to this over the whole season is ignoring history.
Rookies are bad. Compared to vets. He absolutely will fall off
But this dude has showed more star basketball skills and results in three games than Charlotte has ever had.
But while we’re beaming: those mid range jumpers, Chef?

Count me in as a mid range maniac.
